Axles keep popping out w/ Kaaz diff
EDIT. The passenger side axle will pop out if you are using certain re manufactured axles as they are just shy of 1 inch to short on the passenger side and just shy of a half inch to short on the drivers side. I put in the correct length axle and my issue went away. It has been confirmed that this was a issue in the spoon diffs also because of this exact reason.
So is anybody had issues with there plate type diff tossing axles? I searched around h-t and the web and didn't find really any thing other than check the c clip and mine appear to be fine. The axles are near new and have maybe a few hundred miles on them and the the kaaz diff is new also. This last race my axle on the passenger side popped out, pushed it back in and felt like it locked in like it should. Well last night I took it down the street and the driver side popped off the intermediate shaft. I am not running any friction modifier in the transmission as its not a street car, could this be a reason that they rattling them selfs out in slow turns like in the paddox? The car is not very low as I run 17s. any ideas, suggestions, or fixes?

I will look closer at the lca bushings... The bushings were on the winter list but may have be bumped up to get them done before the last race as I dont want to fight this issue again.
Fluid is Redline mtl as I had bought a whole case and had 3 left. I heard that this or torco was the way to go I planned on torco after this case.
Lo buck what did you do to fix yours? was it bushings?

I have a Kaaz LSD as well on a 98 Prelude. I've done plenty of track weekends with it, and I haven't had any issues with the driveshafts popping out. I've used GM Synchromesh Friction Modified and RP Maxgear without any issues. I'm going to give Motul a try next.
Well the kaaz diff is the only thing changed since the last year. It happened on passenger side on exit but the driver side was when I got hard on power inline but the road had some chop... so I dont know im lost
i have a kaaz diff as well and my passenger side keeps poping out aswell. i have a thread in the trans fourm but not a whole lot of help as of yet. mine have been poping out on low speed turns as well. ive changed the clip on the axle twice and stll having issues. im in the same boat as you man.

I used kingpin bearings in my lca's and that fixed 98% of it. The rest was done with a new fluid that was recommended by another ht'er. It's by motul and it's specific for front drive clutch diffs. (FF LSD type 2). That took the harshness out that I was getting at slow, padoc speeds. I think when it chatters at slow speed it wants to kick the axle out.
-but-
If your axle comes off the intermediate shaft, I would look more to bad lca bushings or a subframe issue.

I fought this issue for over a year and the root cause was rebuilt axles. I changed transmissions, diffs, lca, and tried a bunch of axles. All the rebuilt axles I got were shorter than the stock axles. Sometimes they would stay in for a whole weekend, other times they would last a lap and a half.
My lca bushings look ok for a 11 year old car. But I think I will have to figure out how to get those done before the next race...
that motul is cheap compared to torco rtl might have to give that a try first at that price
so smokin did you buy oem then?

http://kingpinmachine.com/ for lca bushings. Chris will install them in your arms and send them back. Which reminds me I have to send out my rears.
its probably ur axles. i had the same issue with my passenger side before i had a diff. i had gone with the new aftermarket vatozone axles. they were probably a half inch to a full inch shorter than even the remans that are still alittle shoter than oem. i went to remaned and havent had that issue but them being short still stretchs the boots and wears out the joint faster. gonna go driveshaft shop as soon as i can afford them.
I did order some oem, both the outer boots popped the first day and I tried to get a second day when the drivers side broke. But at least they didnt fall out

I had that issue and found it to be the C clip to be thin. Replaced it with a new C clip and that fix the issue on passenger side. Never had a issue with the driver side. I've found That using 1 bottle of Honda mtf 1 bottle of penzoil synchromesh and a tube of gear x differential friction additive to work real great. Used that for 2 1/2 years of track abuse with 0 trans issue.
so it turns out my driver side axle didnt pop out and I have not had time to get under the car till this morning...

soooo that does cause issues for going lol. but I pulled the passenger side axle and found something interesting. The driver side axle is just over a half inch shorter than oem "spec" and the passenger side axle is around 1" shorter than oem "spec"!!! I am pretty sure that would cause some issues so between this faluire and them being to short its time for some dss 2.9 not to thrilled about the price lol
