How install Kenwood speakers in an 00 Civic Si?
i just got these kenwoods. i have no knowledge of speakers. i got a 00 civic si. wondering how hard it is to install. i took the oem speaker off but it had a clip and no way to clip the kenwood on so do i have to cut wires? any help would be great
You can buy a plug that wil plug into that plug and will have 2 leads on the end to hook up to your speakers. Or, do what I did, and just cut the plug off, crimp 2 connectors on and hook up the speakers.
Front or rear?
If the front, did you test fit them to see if they will fit, the front door are shallow, and might have to cut the plastic cup.
Do not cut, you can get speaker adapters for about 7 bucks, plugs into the harness and then is has the terminals that plugs into the speakers.

thats awesome. ya they fit the door for the front. ill have to get some of those adapters. how hard is the rear. i heard their alot harder then the fronts. so no cutting wires on front or rear?
Rear end has the clips as well.
For the rear, you have to take out some things
Rear seats, qp pannels, and upper cover, then you'll see the speakers/hardware.
It's really easy to do it

A pox on those that use stock wires with aftermarket speakers. I almost always re-do all of my wiring with high quality shielded 14 or 16 gauge speaker wire. I don't trust that 20/22 stuff they use stock, nor can one use it if you are using an amp. But those little speaker harness things are pretty neat, I have to admit. If I knew someone just doing a modest speaker upgrade, I would recommend them.

If I'm running higher powered/quality speakers, like components, off of an amp I use higher grade wire directly off of the amp. If it's just upgrading for a little better sound there is nothing wrong with using stock wires.
It's been said that stock wires are just fine for under 100watts rms without loosing any sound quality.
In my case, I ran 12 gauge to all 4, straight from my amp.

i got the kenwood 180watt for front and 250 for rear. stock wire going to be ok? i just wanted to upgrade the sound quality alittle, besides that ima keep everything interior wise stock
If you're just running off the headunit power, you'll be fine. The ratings you listed (180 and 250) is the peak power handling of the speakers. Your headunit will only put out like 18-22w rms, and that is an optimistic rating (~40w peak, supposedly but this rating is fairly useless.) You will be more than fine with stock wiring.

You will need two pairs.
