Si/ITR has shortest gearing and lowest ratios.
LS has longest gearing and highest ratios
GSR is a nice middle of the road trans
GSR/ITR are more durable.

Most people will agree that an ITR transmission is pretty much the best stock transmission money can buy.

Limited slip is where it's at.

Agreed. IMO I think for the money a GSR would be the best daily then if your wanting to race a b16 tranny would be best.

Or you could just put a long 5th gear in a good transmission.

GSR transmissions are junk.

Then, to answer your question, the best transmission is clearly any manual.

I don't race light to light so the longer GSR gears are great for what I do. I bought an abused GSR and replaced 3rd and 4th synchros so I wouldn't say GSR transmissions are junk.

To OP, automatic transmissions are junk any manual would be an upgrade

The GSR gear ratios are garbage compared to any of the other variety of b-series transmission I've driven. It feels weird.

And I hope you don't race on the street at all. I don't see why people are so concerned with having short gears. Short gears = faster, period. If you're worried about highway mileage get a longer 5th gear.

+1

Just installed a new GSR transmission w/ LS 5th. Less than 2k rpm @ 40mph, and 3k@ 70. The first 3 gears for the GSR could be shorter though.
