wheel fitment ( xxr 521)16x8 +20 wrapped on 205-40


Today i was stuck with a flat tire while runing errands.when i removed my flat wheel, i noticed that both front tires were badly cambered. both had wire showing in the inner sidewall which cause one tire to puncture a hole..before i got my set up i followed along the sticky above this thread which states that a lowered car doesnt need a camber kit . i think my problem is that my car sits pretty low (about 3 ft between my front lip and ground). and yes i got a rear and front alignment done. could it be that my tire rods are bad? my best suggestion that i have in mind is to get a front camber kit and have my car alignment done and for sure get two new front tires. maybe some 215-40-16.will i still have a camber problem with the wheel fitment or will it be better and safer with the car correctly cambered with a camber kit?.car is currently my daily driver, putting 20miles a day on street and rarely highway. deciding wether to get the skunk2 front kit.anyone else running a different front kit that they like?

for one thing your tires are not wide enough for those wheels. and what are your alignment specs. are you sure the tires arent rubbing inside.

 

Your slammed, and stretched, there is your problem.

@alphalanos ; as for rubbing issues, the wheels clear, no rubbing at all.
i kinda dont understand how the camber specs work. but ill take a picture of my latest alignment which i got while ago..sorry for the quality, i dont have a scanner at the moment..i didnt adjust the camber myself.all done by a shop.but yea illvpost the spec sheet.

Normal.. I only drive mainly street miles ,. Just work and school. I don't take corners either

 

You have -4+ camber, your going to see inner wear.

Guys, his tow is actually in spec. Or close enough to not matter.

It's a combination of 4.3* camber and stretched tires. Stretching the tires is particularly harsh on the outside of the contact surface I'd imagine, and 4.3* camber doesn't help that.

My car is tucking tire in the front and I've only got 1.8* of natural camber. This is why we say 99% of people don't need camber kits. How you have 4.3* of camber I don't know, not without setting it that way on purpose. Your car doesn't look all that low. Could be the angle though.

I also don't like that your final toe is all 0's. A little toe in in the rear and some toe out in the front makes the car more stable and sharpens the steering.

To reiterate, stretched tires and 4.3* camber in tandem are the problem. 3-3.5* camber with frequent tire rotations and a properly sized tire will see normal wear, as I did way back in high school with similar camber but on normal tires.

 

I just noticed a issue, take a look at the right rear toe, she's way off.

none the less, the camber/tire choice is the issue here.

From what I hear the low profile tires suffer from inner wear faster, then the thicker tires.

 

Actually. The tires are the wrong size for the car, but 205/40-16s are generally approved for 7"-8" wide wheels, so it isn't actually stretched.

I got perfectly even wear with 205/40-16s and 205/45-16s on 16x7 wheels with -4* of front camber on my DC2. 30k miles on the 205/45s, and retired early due to rubbing killing them (looked exactly like the pic posted too).

OP, looks like either rubbing, or very incorrect pressures being used.

 

Thanks everyone ., I just purchased and installed a skunk 2 front camber kit . getting the car aligned today. See how it goes and looks. If anything I'll sell the wheels and pick up some decent reg master evos if I can . Thanks for the input guys. Appreciate it.

I am interested to know what the heck is going on in the rear. Toe is way out of spec.

 

your toe changed after your alignment. and that rear toe was never adjusted properly, at all?.

you didnt need the camber kit. but you will still need another alignment.

just know that when you mess with ride height, or let the suspension sag, it will change your toe, which then kills tires.
