3 inch exhaust setups/prices/ideas
Just looking for some insight/ideas on how much the 3" exhaust setups are costing everyone else and what setups are yall going with. I'm pricing mine out and it's costing anywhere from $400+. I'm looking into a full vibrant though. Bisi's dyno numbers has inspired me.: http://forums.nwp4life.com/zerothread?id=28209 Let me know what yall think. Preciate the ideas and info.
I went to a cool exhaust shop
3" crush bent from my flexpipe on the header to the back with a muffler
I think around $160. do ittt
he could've done mandrel bends but that would be like $300
Dropped it off in the morning, got it at lunchtime.

Yeah I know. This is the setup I'm planning on going with:
Kteller 3" mandrel bent piping kit
Vibrant flanges
Vibrant 3" Bottle Style Resonator
Vibrant STREETPOWER TURBO Oval Muffler
Come on man. Please keep it civil. This thread may end up being useful to many other luders later on, so if we can refrain from anything negative towards one another that would be greatly appreciated.
Bisimoto alone has proven that without any restrictions after that header, an H22 can gain 5.3whp & 6.5wtq after tuning. Those type of gains is all that I'm looking for right now. My current engine is almost maxed out on whp& wtq being produced right now, but my goal is too squeeze everything I can outta this motor before I reassemble my Euro-R. Then I'll drop that in with all the same mods to see the specific differences in power production that these motors can make. Just for informational purposes my current engine is an usdm H22A1 with 184whp & 144wtq. If I can hit 190whp or a little bit shy of it I'll be good.

haha
Not many companies piping(if any) compare to Vibrant.....People that know quality and welding, love their stuff.
Regretting the 2.5" I have.....Wish I had done 3".
2.5" with no res and Vibrant muffler is beyond loud......but sounds good, not like some open header.....Can't even hit VTEC with the windows up.
IIRC paid about $600 for my Custom Vibrant piped system with Vibrant muffler w/ all flanges, gaskets...etc.... I could ask what my guy would charge for a full 3", although I know its going to be expensive......
On the flipside, if you cheap out, you're going to be spending money having welds/pipes fixed in the future.
KTeller has some great prices, but my friends 3" on his Prelude fit like crap......

turbo set-up, I have 3" from downpipe to exhaust tip. Not a single restriction, even the Magnaflow muffler is straight-pipe. Sounds decent though, as the turbo is a great quieter.
Oh ya, and it's crush-bent, and cost me $300 even for everything.

Pricing for crush bent and mandrel bent tig welded is a huge difference.
On my daily driver, I run a 3" crush bent exhaust and it cost me $200 labor and piping, $75 magnaflow resonator, $150 apexi WS2 and $60 for 2 3" vibrant flanges.
On my track car, I used the kteller weld up stainless mandrel bent kit and it cost me a lot more to have it all tig welded up. I believe $350 for just welding. Then I supplied my own muffler, resonator, cat and flanges. So it cost me nearly $900 I believe.

You should get mendral, crush bent flows like 2.5, whereas mendral allows full flow through the pipes. Ebay brand pipes are fine, they are just pipes after all,but that's about the only thing I'd say go ebay on.
I'm just a bench racer.
But it's been proven years ago with many dynos and tests that a 3" exhaust makes power over a 2.5" on a bone stock USDM h22.
And you do not lose any low end power.
^^^This is true, 3inch is a lot better than 2.5 due to obvious reasons of better airflow and more breathing for the engine. Thus better circulation and more ability to push out power. Though 3inch is great and what you want, 2.5 is best for, just some power gain and basic performance, I'm going 2.5 for now, but only until I get enough power for it to have a full use. Also crush bend is a waste, it causes restrictions in the flow of the pipe and causing size changes on the inside, stick with mendral.
My friend has a whole N1 set with cat and all he'll sell me for about $100, so I'd rather do that as a temp and spend what was going to be used for the 3inch welding and purchase on valves since mine are probably in a need of replacement anyway.
I guess for $100, you can't go wrong but all you're really getting is sound.
I measured it out to be sure it wasn't fake, but it is true, it's only a mild gain. I'm mainly just trying to get a lil gain while I can also fix. I'll just have to see. Hopefully it's worth it.Once I get enough, I'm going 3inch.

Why buy an exhaust only with the plans on getting rid of it? Just wait until you can have what you want. I personally would never buy the apexi N1, mild steel piping is only going to rust and 1 extra bend just to have the cool angled look is dumb.
Didn't really look at it much lol, just know he let me measure it quick, then went home and did a lil research. I have enough for the 3inch, just not the converter, and the pipe from the 3inch exhaust to the 2.5 flex pipe
