My car makes a loud rattle from transmission and it goes away when I push in the clutch. But when I take off the sound comes back. It sounds really bad and I hope it's not the whole transmission does anyone know what it could be??

 

Does the noise happen all the time if your foot is not on the clutch? Only at idle? Does it go away if you push the clutch JUST enough to take up the pedal freeplay?

 

at idle the car makes the noise when i push in the clutch it goes away. it makes the noise when im driving as well, the only time the noice goes away is when im fully stopped AND my clutch is pushed in.. and yea it goes away as soon as the clutch engage, i was told a while ago that it was the throw out bearing but now its super loud and i can hear it as im driving

 

Push the clutch pedal ONLY enough to take up the freeplay (about an inch movement). Use your fingers, as that's the easiest way of telling exactly when the freeplay is gone. At that point, the pedal will suddenly become a lot harder to push.

Is the noise gone as long as you push the freeplay out of the pedal?

 

No I have to push it jus a little bit after the freeplay to stop the noise
