did I bend a valve?
Okay, so I broke a timing belt going 60mph in the rain. When I tried pushing the gas pedal it was acting like a break. It's a 1995 accord.
What I heard was that it would take a miracle not to have bent a valve. Well, there was a lot of people praying for just such a miracle. When we took the stuff off in order to replace the timing belt we checked the rocker arms and the intake valve tops and went around twice to see if any were loose and none of them were. My father believes this means that nothing was bent. Can it still be bent but not affect any of the rocker arms or intake valve tops?
We don't have a compressor gauge that's long enough to fit so we can't check the compression. :-/

I figured where you said none of the rockers were loose that you checked them with a feeler gauge. The rockers should be a bit loose when the piston is at TDC for that cylinder. You need to check the valve clearance with a set of feeler gauges. A Honda manual would be helpful if you have never done this before.

if the valve is bent on the compression stroke the valve will not return to the seated position. So the valve lash will be excessive. The problem with this method is that if the valve is just slightly bent its very difficult to determine. I would just slap a new timing belt on it and perform a compression test.
No, not neccesarily. Honda's have a solid valve train that requires occasional adjustment. If the car starts getting clickity diesel sort of sound the valves might be do for an adjustment. Loose is better than to tight though.
Not always, but if you find one or two that are way off it could be a good sign to have them checked out further. Probably faster and more reliable to buy an adapter for your pressure tester.
