d16z6 distributor on NON-vtec motor?
I had a d16z6 in my EG civic and it blew on me, put a rod thru the oil pan. I bought a JDM ZC (1.6 non-vtec) and am moving along with the swap quite well. I was just wondering if the d16z6 VTEC distributor will work with the NON-VTEC motor?? The bolts line up perfectly and the key on the distributor fits into the slot on the cam in the motor perfectly too. I just need to know if the car will run smoothly with the d16z6 distributor installed?? please help!?!
To my understanding the VTEC distributors have the same sensors but one of them is 180degrees off. If you get a check engine light or it runs funny, this is probably the cause.
NOTE: The Z6/Z1 distributor flange is unique, if the old distributor mounts perfectly to the non-VTEC head you probably had a Y8 head on your Z6 block.
EDIT-Read this, then decide http://www.d-series.org/forums/gener...th-busted.html
