H23VTEC build problems! :/
hey guys a just got done building a h23a1 block and mated it with a h22 headnow the motor seems to be extreamly hard to turn over in the car (civic)
and i was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me....
thanks in advance..
Your starter may be weak or your grounds might be too.
Just checking, but you do realize higher compression will make your motor harder to turn over, right?
Also, what pistons are you using? That will give some insight into what your compression ratio is.

k guys..
i'm using h22a pistons on h23 rods with h23 crank (couldn'nt fit the h22 oil squirters)
as for the battery i'm using an suv battery n it still cranks slow, but i knew i was gonna have a hard time turning the motor over with higher compression and friction from new rings in the honed block.
but i was talkin to some one n he mentioned something about colors, i don't what the heck he was talking about so i wanted some vet. advice...

when block was put together did the motor spin freely with out the head also check the valve clearence may be too loose and valves arent openingso hold back all compression
If someone was talking about colors, that would be the different bearing thicknesses, for clearance. Who assembled the motor, and do you have the clearance specs of the bearings? If the bearings are too tight, you are S.O.L. The one other thought, you say the walls were honed, was this done to Honda spec, by someone experienced at dealing with FRM?
For what its worth, I assembled my engine which was the exact same build, with .020 clearances on the mains and rods, and it spun great, with new rings, but I did not hone the walls.
