I changed the fuel filter it was very dirty and black at the bottom but a problem still occurs when the car gets under half a tank. If I slam on brakes the rpms drop to zero and the cars shuts off but If I hit the gas real fast I catch it from cutting off but If I ease on the brakes the car doesn't cut off. Can the fuel pump be clogged with dirt...

 

with the car in park I seen the rpms go to 2 then drop to 1 costantly, the car is reving up and down just sitting there

 

Get a fuel pressure gauge and screw it into the top of the fuel filter. I believe it should sit at 40-50 psi.

 

Clean the IAC......check the coolant level. Check the FITV, a reach in that, then clean the heck out of the TB,,,,,pay close attention to the two ports on the firewall side of the tb,,,,and also be sure to clean both sides of the butteryfly.

 

There is most likely a fuel pickup sock that could be clogged with dirt. Seems odd that it only does it after half a tank though.
