4g63 custom intake manifold
i decided instead of buying one that i would never be happy with i wanted to build my own crazy one that no one else would ever have... Anyways heres what went down. im happy with it weather it makes power or not. I just like having unique parts and i just enjoy fabrication.
stared with a stock manifold


chopped off the runner

removed all the extra brackets and unsused sections

chopped out the the part where the runners gonna fit

threw it on my bridgeport and machined it out a bit.

then started welding er up.

SIDE NOTE, i had a bug land in my bead as i was welding, teach me to weld a night with the garage door open lol

couple of weld close ups (please not i have only been aluminum welding for about 2 weeks so i still have a lot to learn, my biggest problem currently is dipping the tungsten and consistency)




all put together.

on the car

used my the mill to make a throttle body flange to couple it to a 76 mm GM throttle body

then lastly i used my stock Mitsubishi throttle body and chopped off the idle control motor to make a remote mount throttle control unit that will plug into my stock wiring harness but still allow me to use the larger 76 MM GM TB.

what wleder are you using ? Also how far is ur tungsten sticking out ?
biggest thing with consistency is geting both of your hands comfortable, atleast with me. i like to rest my pinky finger of my torch hand on my material (it helps if you have a thicker glove) and kinda use that to slide along your piece. itll help keep your torch steady

yeah its a syncrowave 200 sadly with just an aircooled torch

the biggest problem i was having causing it hard to be consistent is im having to use my cloths dryer plug to power the welder and so it pops the breaker about every 3-4 inch's of weld at 115-120 amps. literally if i try and go up to 130+ amps it makes it about an inch of weld. WEAK.

I had a bad breaker on my welder's circuit at one point, and right in the middle of everything it would trip, this can be a huge pain!
