Default question about denting frame for b series swap into ef

I have a 1991 civic si
i know the b series swap info says I need to dent about an inch or so for alternator to fit so that it doesnt rub again car frame.

My question is if i needed to replace alternator or belt etc.. do i have to remove engine from car to remove alternator or will i be able to remove alternator while engine is in car??

Thanks

if you make the dent big enough you should be alright to do in the car.
