Default Question about factory/aftermarket LSD

ok so i know that the OEM ITR JDM/USDM trannys have LSD and a way to spot them is to look through the axle hole and you should be able to see all the way through without a bar obstructing your view. My question is are all LSD like this? IE. Quaife/Phantom Grip/OBX or do certain aftermarket LSD have a bar inside the axle hole still?

No OEM or Aftermarket LSD will have any type of Bar in the center. The Phantom Grip is not a full LSD unit like a Quaife.

Excellent LSD. Have used them in customers and have had a couple personally. No complaints!

well ok since the phantom grip is not a full LSD does that mean it might have a bar there? cuz i saw a picture of how to install it and it looks like its a bolt on not an actual differential o-o

The Phantom Grip will still use the center bar(differential pin)...it wraps around it.

but you can see the difference. The OPM/CRE/SteveE diff that Phantom SLip copied as well.

Thanks Bone! I didn't have a pic of one installed since the last one we pulled out for a customer was exploded! LOL

I can say this, a PG does have a use.

When the diff pin wears through, it will keep the spider gears contained and not destroy the case.

The PG doesn't cause the explosion, Honda's weak diff pin does that.
