Default Aftermarket Lip install

Update post 17

What is the best way to install an aftermarket lip? I am not talking about oem si lips with mounting hole and hardware.

I am talking about like the ones from ebay with no holes or hardware.

Then why mess with it if it's not OEM? Pay the extra money for OE. So worth it. I promise you, you won't have this dilemma upon you. Btw, poly or plastic?

They often come with hardware. Screws, rivets and all kinds of weird brackets. No instructions. Make it fit anyway you can.

You're repeating what I stated above. But in laymen terms.

Some people ride low and wind up cracking/breaking OEM stuff so they opt for cheap Ebay replacements in this case. I can understand that.

And this what they do. Spending their time asking how do I install a fake product? If he's doing it to ride "hella flush" then I'm not for it. If he's putting it on to be clean and stock-ish, I admire that.

This one has no hardware, it is a carbon fiber style not sure if the base is abs or poly etc.

That's the **** about ebay. Head down to your local hardware store and pick up around 10 bolts and nuts with washers.

OEM hardware only runs about $30-40. I don't think thats going to eat up your wallet. (but you can't use it)

What lip is it a rep of? CTR?

Some lips are easier to mount then others.

This a mugen style. There is nothing, just a flat molded lip, I will have to drill and screw I guess.

Yes, you will have to drill. That's pretty much how they made the lip.

I got it installed, this a carbon fiber mugen style, I used molding tape, but that proved to be worthless, since it will not sit super flush to the car, basically it slips on but the lip is stiff and it wants to pull away, don't get me wrong still pretty damn close fit. The lip has 2 wings under it that slips under the bumper, I used some screws and drilled into the wings into the underside of the bumper. Then I used a screw on the sides of the wheel well area. I used 1 screw on each side, but left room to put another screw under it if needed, one side fits slightly better than the other, it kind pulls away a little on the drivers side not too noticeable, I can and the second screw, but if I push it I do not want to crack it, so I might leave the 1 screw from now and not mess around. I will see how it holds.

Let me note I do not have a factory bumper cover it is an aftermarket, so a factory one the lip might fit a little better.

Overall, it is very acceptable for what I paid shipped, and it does not suffer what I have seen when some cheap lips will not wrap around the wheel well area and it those look like you have to force to sit in and still pop out.
