Default 98 Civic EX coupe power window problems

The power windows in my 1998 civic EX coupe have worked fine until just the other day, the passenger side window will not go up or down from the driver's side switch. It will go up (or try to go up since it is already closed) from the passenger side switch, but will not go down. Yes, i have checked the window lock switch on the driver's side unit.

I have not yet run through the helms tests, but just seeing if anybody has had a similar problem before i get around to fixing it myself.

thanks

If the window will go up on the passengers side but not the main switch than i believe that either the master switch is faulty or isnot getting a proper ground at the switch.Find a schematic, removed the switch with it still hooked up.When operating the switch probe the appropriate wire terminals with a dmm and recorded your results. The window motors have 2 wires running to them that change polarity when pressed down and or the opposite direction.Just make sure you check your grounds.Good luck Peace

switches tested out OK, seems to be a short/break in either the BLU/YEL or BLU/ORN wires leading from the master switch to the passenger's switch. will test them tomorrow for continuity from one switch to the other.

I also have a 98 Honda Ex with window issues. It started with passenger window only working from passenger switch. Then the drivers side quit but started working again a few weeks later but when it did the passenger side quit all together. I had the motor replaced on passenger side. It had been making a clicking sound while car was on so the guy figured that would be it. No go still. Before I replace main switch is there a way to find out for sure with out a shop? Thanks
