Akebono Caliper 1995 CD5
Ive been chasing the front pads for my Accord now for a while and am confused as hell.
Ive followed all the info I could find to identify my front calipers as Akebono's.
While looking up the brake pads I have the following part numbers
1172, 1206, 1279 and now 1191
According to Bendix its either 1279 or 1206 for models 94-97.
Earlier models may of been 1172 (for akebono specifically according to supercheap
)
Confused yet? yep I am
Anyhow, pulled off the pads and found they defiently arnt 1172s that I was given by supercheap but they cant seem to tell me what they should be.
Flicking thru a acdelco catalogue I seem to think the are the 1191's but they apparently were for 94 models only. So im a little worried if I order them they also will be wrong again.
The Build date on my chassis states Jan1995, and compliance is Jun95.
Possible they have had older calipers put on at factory or has anyone else had this problem?
I will be ringing honda tomorrow asap but thought id throw it out to see if anyone could brighten up my day

Are you trying to source Honda OEM pads or something? I mean, if you go to any local auto part stores, all they want to know is what size engine, model, and year your car is. They should definitely have it in stock; since, they're pretty common.
I've never have any trouble getting pads for my '94 Accord EX. I've gone from cheap to premium type pads from local part stores.

I got the oem part number today. 45022sm4a01
I chased this pad around on the net for half the day and tracked it back to bendix as part No DB1191
Now if you follow the information bendix and most other companies have this brake pad apparently doesnt suit my car and Honda was the only place to give me the correct part number.
Reason I was so keen to chase after market is a $80 price tag as aposed to $150+ for OEM.
Ordered these tonight anyway so hopefully tomorrow night I will have them in the car and be able to confirm this nightmare :D

Ok got the Bendix DB1191's tonite.
Apart from the little locating lug on the inside pad being a semi circle shape as aposed to a full circle they were a perfect fit.
it seems when it came to my car only honda knows what pads go on it. Bendix and bosch seem to be way off the mark.
