I personally run the Ksport full coilovers and they get a big thumbs up from me. Tons of adjustability (dampening, ride height, preload, etc) and quality pieces in my experience with them on my 1995 accord ex. They ride really well, while still being firm. Under your $1000 limit as well.

Lot of people will say Koni/GC combo and you can't go wrong with that setup. Tein, F&F and Megan get a bad rap from the haters but I personally run the Megan EZ Streets on my '96 and I am quite pleased with them. Ride height on them is adjusted from the lower mount rather than from the spring perches so lowering doesn't affect spring preload or shock travel.

I've got a set of Tein SSP's on my 98 and have zero complaints. They ride good but some say that they don't have the ability to go as low as others without optional springs. I had a set of Neuspeed springs on KYB struts that I replaced with the Teins and haven't looked back.
