Icon7 D16Y7 -- Standard transmission

Another silly question!

I've done a wee bit of digging and found that almost all mid 90's transmissions are identical for there respective types (standards / auto's), Correct?

What is an acceptable price range for a replacement trannie/rebuild?

I'm eyeballing a 97' Civic LX to replace my SI as my DD (more fun for the SI later to come!) and needless to say, everything on this car is sound except for the transmission, it slips REALLY badly going into 1st and I think the synchro's are shot...

Any information/model numbers would be amazing, if all else fails I'll resort to trolling google for another day or two

As always H-T, thanks in advance!
