Can I weld on a compliance bushing bracket?
my vehicle was on a lift the other day and i notice a bolt hanging slanted with a weld on it... from what i can remember, it was the front lower control arm (bushing bracket) bolt. it goes into the subframe, i think.
i need it to last another 60k miles (currently, 150k) before i scrap it.
what i plan to do: put a couple of welds where this screw is. i mean, it stays in place right now. so should i tamper with it? or wait till it pops off while i drive and crash? if that bushing fails, i can always dremel/grind the welds and replace the bushing and reweld basically, i do not care if i crash, but it would suck if i hurt somebody else in the process. i am a broke college student.
when i look for subframes on ebay, they do not have nuts welded on them in this spot?
it is where the bracket is. #8 or #9. the bracket holding the compliance bushings in place. BOLTS 18, 19, 20... i think is is bolt # 18 that is welded to the bracket. it is sticking out sideways (not flushed). a piece of the flange is welded to the bracket.

Bolts 18-20 I think go into the chassis. I'm not certain what you're saying.
Welding the bolt to the bushing won't do anything if the bolt isn't threading into something else behind there. It would be like having a piece of paper on your table and gluing your hand to that and expecting your hand to be attached to the table below.

Year? Model?
Please post a clear picture of this.
As already said, 18,19,20 are the 3 that go into the subframe. I am trying to picture what your talking about, but I cant. lol

Of course this was a while ago.

Maybe he's talking about the D brackets on the sway bar? They're pretty close to the compliance bushing.
IIRC one of those bolts is longer than the others and goes straight through the subframe
and into the chassis. You definitely want that one in place correctly.

Where exactly are the welds? On the nut itself to the mount? Or the mount? It was asked before, but a picture of your car would help everyone better understand.
