Default Blown motor, limited budget, sohc turbo, or dohc vtec n/a

I have a 91 ef hatch std. Had the stock d15b1 motor with the injected throttle body on it yet. Had 185000 on the motor and chassis so it was time for it to go anyway. I need a new motor and trans cause it has the 4 spd in it and its half way to **** already anyway. So i have about $1000 cash to play with. I am looking at doing a y8 swap cause i can get an si trans for $75 from a buddy and keep the car boosted.OR im looking at doing an h swap. Would like an h22a1 orr a f20b dohc vtec. However I would have to sell my turbo setup to afford that route. Let me know what you guys think!! Thanks

If your on a budget, just do the y8 swap. Cheapest route for you to go.

theres no such thing as budget and turbo in the same sentence, just ask a DSMer.
N/A swap it and itll be reliable as hell and still run good.
i love my B18 over the d15 4 speed. its just a driver though, not a race car. gotta figure out which one you want first.
My turbo talon has been towed by my civic more miles than its ran under its own power.

Yeah and if you only have a 1,000 to play with you should go with sohc with h or f swap I would think be around 3,000 to do the swap for that

Definitely this, I don't know how you say youre under a budget but that youre thinking about going H series.... you have everything you want already.... just stay D and run with it. Also if youre always budgeted you shouldnt be running turbo.

$1000 will get you H mounts, axles and the parts to do the cable to hydro stuff, might even get you a shifter and cables. then all you need is the swap itself.

If it was me I would just get a D16 longblock of some sort make sure it has mpfi and call it a day.
