Anyone running a bigger than stock rear sway bar w/o a subframe brace on a DC2???
I need to know if anyone is running a larger than stock rear sway bar on their DC2 non ITR without an ASR brace or beaks kit?
Is it safe to run a larger (ITR, ASR) rear sway bar without a brace?
Currently I have a JDM ITR rear sway bar and ASR subframe brace, but I need to remove the brace for TT so I can get the points back for that modification.
I don't want to tear it out, so I need to know if anyone is doing this?
Only 94-01 Integra non-ITR chassis.

What about using the og Beaks kit?

I got away with running with no reinforcement on mine for several years, but that was with street driving and maybe 20 autox's. Can't say I would trust it on track though, or really at all anymore now that I'm a bit older and wiser. This was on an EJ1 which already had the mounting points, same subframe as the dc2

I wouldnt run without some type of support. I imagine you are running pretty stiff rates and some type of r compound tire.
I wouldnt run a sway without any kind of support.
But if an OG beaks is all that is out there with out running a full support, its better than nothing at all.

So no one can personally verify that they run a larger rear sway bar without any type of bracing?
The ITR had a stronger subframe to run a bigger sway bar.
That is why pretty much nobody is saying they run a big bar without a brace or at least a beaks kit.

I have run a ST rear bar that is 3/4" or 19mm, I believe, instead of the 14mm rear for several years. No bracing added. Street and many HPDE days. No issues. When I got it the accepted rule was that anything larger than the ST needed bracing.
No its just the two points where the sway attaches, see here for pics of the unit.

I know of many poeple on here that have ran just the beaks the kit.
personaly, I know 2 that have had without any issues.
You shouldn't have any issues with just the beaks kit.

The ASR brace adds 3 points.
I have been running a Progress ARB in the rear (26mm solid?) with the standard mounting points. I am running Hoosier S04's and 16k-18k rear springs. Had the bar since... 04? Earlier maybe? Lots of autox's and lots of track days with no visible signs of any problem.
I know the Civaks need reinforcement, but even the base tegs had a stronger mounting point than the civics. Type-R obviously were fine, but the teg is kinda of in the middle.
However, my mounting might be slightly different than normal mounting points? Mine is like this: (Lol, found my car in a google search... forgot cardomain existed!)

can you weld something on your subframe, legally ?
it is a pretty dumb rule, as it is an integral part of the set up...ie, nobody sane runs without it

The Progress bars come with special mounting brackets that help distribute the load, so they are designed to run without additional reinforcement. I spoke with a lot of people prior to getting my set up, and general consinsus was that oem ite size 23mm and less will be ok with beaks kit and anthing bigger you may want to consider a acutal brace like the ASR. I went ahead and got the ASR brace to go along with my OEM itr bar for peace of mind.
