Coilovers for RSX-S
So I just had to create a new account on Honda-Tech because this site has been such a useful tool for me building up my car... I finally have enough money now to continue my build and it's time for some coilovers. A lot of my friends are telling me to go with the K-Sport control pros because they are the best bang for the buck. I want to stay around the $1000 price range. I am aware that I will also need rear cambers as well so if I went with the K-Sports I was just going to get their rear cambers...
Any suggestions???
I look forward to your guys input. Thanks

It would help if you told us what do you use your RSX mainly for: Daily Driver, Track, or a combination of DD with occasional Tracking? I've just installed Progress Coil Overs and they are awesome in ride quality and adjustibility. I haven't tracked them yet, but I have been up and down a couple of mountain passages and the difference is uncanny.
You are correct in assuming that you are going to need a rear camber kit, most run at about 100 bucks. I would look into getting a front camber kit as well, new ones only run around 25 bucks for a set. No matter what you decide to go with, you'll have to get an alignment as well. Probably looking at another 80~100 dollars for that as well.

Your friends are idiots don't listen to them. Get ground controls and Koni yellows or Progress coilovers
Thanks for the input guys. I will check out some of the parts you spoke of. As far as how I use my car goes... I use it mostly as a daily driver in the summer and store it in the winter. I want to start tracking the car though once I feel it is ready to be raced.
Btw I am wondering why you said that my friends are idiots? Are the K-Sports garbage???

IDK what you mean by ready to be raced. A stock RSX is capable of being tracked, its just a matter if the driver is.

unless you have no life and you just stay up until late at night when no one is on the roads...but even then what if there is that random person who stayed at work late or just wanted late night mcdonalds
i wouldnt even be able to afford a speeding ticket....let alone race..
its just not smart to race on the streets...unless you live in a very rural area
but for people like me...i sleep at night, go to school, work, and volunteer at the hospital...dont have time to go race if i did i'd probably do it on the track...
its more satisfying...you can actually stop to talk to the person you raced after it's over rather than just driving off
its just reckless to race on the road man...also pointless
I do live in a semi rural area, with 2 highways right by my house. I don't have to stay up all night. Also, I am not reckless, I am actually a damn good driver (even though I know you guys will talk **** on this, keep in mind you don't know me and you have never seen me drive, so don't be ignorant)
But, this is why I want to get a good suspension set-up, so I can track my car. I am not here to sit around and argue about how I should drive or where I should drive. I am not trying to start problems with anyone... I want to keep the peace, because like I said, Honda-Tech has really helped me out so far in building my car. I would rather take advice from RSX owners on modifications than anyone else.

And yes, I am a nut behind the wheel haha but we all have to start somewhere.
Start by upgrading tires then and getting seat time. You don't want to start throwing a bunch of mods on that will put you in a class where you're going up against seasoned vets with race prepped cars where you won't be competitive. Unless you don't care about that and just want to have fun then by all means have at it.

As far as my engine goes, I only have basic bolt-ons. Injen CAI, Buddy Club stainless steel race header, and a Greddy EvoII exhaust. I also added a Ingalls torque dampener and Energy Suspension motor mount inserts.
Right now, I just need a good suspension and then I will go from there with a tune...
Don't waste your money on strut bars, they are more eye candy then anything else. Not saying that they are completly useless, just use that money for something else more beneficial(Kpro). Here is the break down on the most benificial suspension mods in order:
1. The Driver Skill level (YOU)
2. Tires
3. Damper (Shocks/Springs)
4. Camber Kit / Alignment
5. Sway Bars
Also, I think you will benefit from a smaller front sway bar and a bigger rear sway bar. There is some kind of 02-05 Civic 16mm front sway that people have found perfect and it uses the same endlinks as our RSX does. I would upgrade to a 22-24 mm after market rear sway. Our cars come stock with a bigger front sway bar and a smaller rear sway.
Here is some advice for your suspension setup, take it if you will... I am in no way a professional in the matter. It's from my own personel research and experience.

Thank you for the advice Evasion... After I got the coilovers I was looking to do the Hotchkis sways. Then as you said K-pro. Kind of sucks they do not make K-pro compatible with an 05-06' ECU. I did read though, that Hondata just came out with a new generation K-pro. Any Comments?

Yeah, that's what I thought. Funny thing is, I am pretty sure that my primary O2 sensor has gone bad somehow because my check engine light is on. I know it's not from the race header because when I installed it I used the defouler and never had a CE light until this year. Which is strange because the car only has about 36k on it. Can I use an 02-04' primary O2 sensor and get rid of the check engine light until I do get hondata? But as far as the reflash goes, that seems like a good idea. Anyone else have any input on that?

K-pro is compatible with 05-06' ECU, I think you'll just need an adapter or something like that, not sure I've got an 02-S. You are correct, Hondata is comming out with a new K-pro on September 14th. However, based on your mods and your budget (said you couldn't afford Kpro) maybe Hondata Reflash is more up your alley. I think it's only around 250$ and you can upgrade it to Kpro later if you decide to. If all you have is intake, header, and exhaust.. then you're better off with the reflash, I think. Then later, if you add a Turbo, N.O.S., or a Supercharger then upgrade your reflash and the original 250$ you put down will be credited to the Kpro upgrade.. it's a pretty good deal. You should ask around and see if you can find anybody that has any experiences/opinions about Reflash.
accident happens randomly and even race car drivers get into accidents so you cant really call yourself a good driver and you can call yourself a racers if you race in track/knowledgeable about your car and im with mr. spade if you do it the right way you wont fail LOL
(sorry for the thread jack LMAO)

I didn't realize that just because you race your car on a track that makes you a good driver. I know I am not as experienced as all you... and that's cool. Is there something wrong with wanting do build a mean *** RSX?
