Starting trouble with Honda accord 2001 4 cyl automatic
Dear all,
The issues are -
1. Car fails to start sometimes - problem occurs once in a while and not everytime
2. Sometimes when the car starts it stops immediately
3. Car seems to idle roughly
4. Engine raced but car failed to move forward when accelarator was pressed to go from stop position to higher speed. This happened only once on a flat road. Another time on a sloped road - the engine seemed to get strained to increase the speed from stop.
I changed the air filter recently - but 1, 2, 3 seem to persist. 4 has not occured so far after changing air filter
The battery is fine - was replaced 6 months ago.
Thank you in advance for your help.

have you done a tune-up lately? sounds llike you might not be firing in all cylinders...i had those same problems in an expadition i used to own and turned out it was the coils/spark plugs...it took a long time to bring up the CE light
In regards to item #4, the transmissions on the 98-02 Accords had an extremely high failure rate. They're very expensive to replace. Good luck.
@ flynbyu2 - Yes, I read about that too - but I am really hoping it is not that, and that it might be because to less air of fuel getting to my engine. Getting transmission replaced will be way too expensive
I had this happen (symptoms 1,2,3) to my 01 Accord. First time, I cleaned the IACV, and it worked for a couple of years. Lately, it came back. So I did a full clean up of the TB, EGR valve, and inside of the Intake manifold. It definitely idles a lot better and more responsive. The idea came from this thread...http://www.hondaaccordforum.com/foru...cord-ex-22496/
Carb spray the whole thing, pretty silky smooth engine now.
