Default Temp Gauge Problem??

90 CRX DX. I suspect i am having electrical problems but not sure. My temp gauge doesnt seem to be working right. Someone said they thought it was overheating but i want to know for sure. Is there a way to tell if the engine is running too hot without the temp gauge working correctly? Thanks.

well, theoretically, if your radiator fan switch is working properly, it should kick on the radiator fan and leave it on as soon as it jumps above 194F. So if your radiator fan is on all the time, that would be one indication.

The temperature sending unit for the gauge should read 142 ohms when the car is below 133F, and should read between 32-49 ohms when the radiator fan comes on around 194F.

If your radiator fan is on all the time, then you likely have a problem. If your radiator fan switch is bad, you may also have a problem.

Would this be the same for a 1995 Civic DX?
