what is this part?
so i was at the junkyard today and i saw a 96 accord dont know what trim . but in the engine bay i noticed the intake hose was different then the stock one almost the same but from one of the holes under it another hose came out and ran to a little box that had like the intake manifold the porting for the throttle and had small hoses that ran idk where and an electronic switch that plugs into it ... so i was confused what this was for . the only thing that was written on it was
filltech inc.
honda>>pp>t
AR4
so can anybody tell me what it is and what its for? im guessing it gives a better way for the intake to breathe or something . cant be sure everything in the engine bay was messed around with ... so i couldnt piece the rest of what it was ..

It was for an EX, it's a vacuum module for something - forgot.
You remove it when you install an aftermarket intake
*edit*
Think it's the Intake Air Resonator as seen here

than this is the stock 1 has the air going into these little boxes from two holes which i think is to take away from power by not letting all the air go in directly right?

so anyway what is the ex intake hose purpose? is it for more power i still dont understand how it works
heres a better view

see there way different . im guessing this type only comes with the f22b1 engine.. i have the b2
Those boxes have nothing to do with increasing or reducing air flow. As mentioned they are resonators used for reducing intake noises. The VTEC trim Accords have an extra resonator box that is solenoid operated for when VTEC is engaged.
Ok, I have a 1997 Honda Accord EX wagon and I installed an aftermarket air intake as the original Honda intake was all cracked and torn up. I left the Intake Air Resonator in. I have had continual Insufficient EGR Lift and Misfires on Cylinders 1 and 2 for weeks and after spending so much of parts (wrong parts) I am wondering if leaving the Intake Air Resonator in could be a cause or contributing cause to my problems. In any case, I am wondering what to do with (1) the vacuum hose going into the Intake Air Resonator (via the Intake Air Resonator Check Valve), (2) the nipple at the front where a hose from the Intake Air Resonator attaches (I think to the Intake Air Resonator Vacuum Tank) and (3) the connector to the Intake Air Resonator Solenoid.
