91 CRX si not starting
I am having a problem with the car not starting, the ignitor and fuel filter have been replaced. It was surging like it was out of gas. When trying to start it i can hear the fuel pump pressurize and it will hit ever so often but not enough to stay running. It has had a B18A1 swap, it had that when I bought it. So i do not know what type of ecu is installed, also some sensors are not connected so the check engine stays on. I am not really familiar with honda.please let me know what else to check, please help
your going to have to pull the codes. check the ecu it should have a label number on it, on the side. if you had a b18 in there i would say pr4 ecu, but check it to make sure. the label is going to have other letters and numbers on it on the label. the type of ecu should be in the middle of the label between the other letters and numbers. to pull the code your going to have to check the light that blinks on the ecu. ( if u have obd0, 88-91) turn your key to the on position then read the blinking lights on ecu. a solid long blink counts as 10 when a fast blink counts as 1. once you get the codes figured out we can guide you in the right direction. for example: say you got a cel code 16 we can look that up and figure out the problems.
make sure your getting fuel pressure at the fuel filter. loosen the feed line to your fuel filter enough for a lil bit of gas to come out. then turn your key to the on position. if gas comes out with pressure then you got good fuel pressure.
I noticed that when I changed out the fuel filter this weekend that there was not much pressure in the line when I did crack the pressure bolt, I do not know if it is suppose to spray out but it was a slow trickle came out when I turn the pressure screw, also after I installed the fuel filter I did not tighten it completely and it did not spray fuel every where. Can I assume it is the fuel pump not developing enough pressure? Also any idea why I do not have any trouble codes when there is sensors still disconnected?

The fuel lines are pressurized only when the key is on the on position. It probably did spray alot out because the key wasn't on, it just sprayed out what it already had. Without your fuel pump pumping it will not continuous hold pressure. Which sensors do u have unplugged?
I did the test with the key on, The pressure bolt on the fuel filter was turned 1 1/2 turns and there was just a slight trickel of gas over the fitting , nothing sprayed out or anything like that. I am going to replace the fuel pump and I will post the results. As far as the sensors, there is one on top middle of the intake manifold that looks like it takes a vacum line as well as a plug. ( I will post pictures soon, they ae on my laptop) But any other sensors I am not sure , that what I was told whan I purchased the car, I was told it has an engine from a 90-91 integra B18A1. The CEL stays on but the ECU is not putting out any trouble codes so I do not know how to find what is missing and what is not. (But the ECU does not fit the stock bolts in the floor pan, it is longer). The engine was running very strong before is went down last week.
Thank You or all the help so far , I imagine there will be alot more questions as I sort the car out.

If the engine light is on, the engine cranks over and you have fuel, then check the main relay for dry joints, common fault on MK1/2 CRX..here's a 'how to'..

That the purge valve and its not really needed unless your in a state that has emissions inspections. It also has a vacuuam hose that comes off it and goes to the canister that is to the left of your fuel filter. To hook the wiring up you going to have to get the plug off an integra a ne solder it in. The plug that isn't connected next to your map sensor.
Here is the update: changed fuel pump and still not starting - just turning over . Static timing is correct and set. Fuel relay clicks when I turn on the key. I know it is not getting any fuel at the injectors because spraying carb cleaner cranks it up and runs for a few seconds. please any thoughts to test to parts to replace. This is getting to be a pain. Thanks for all the responses so far.
pull the rear bottom seat out or cover. uncover where you can get to the wires going to the fuel pump on your rear harness. theres going to be a 4 wire plug that goes to the fuel pump. the yellow/black wire is the power wire. when the key is on the on position it should be getting 12v of power is not run a power wire to it. i done this before with a toggle switch for my fuel pump.
You can test your fuel injectors with a multimeter.a repair manual will have the specs on the injectors. If they are not in spec then you know u have a bad injector.
No fuel to injectors = no fuel to run engine.
OK I will check both starting with the fuel pump 12v power on the harness. I have changed the fuel pump but if it is bad wiring it would not make a difference. Thanks ( I have changed enough parts that when it does start running again it should run rather well, LOL)
Ok update in the ongoing CRX saga. OHM'd all the injectors and they all tested 2.6-2.7 OHMs, within specs, I forgot to test the injector pulse but the hot side was getting 12+volts on each one. I also forgot to check for fuel flow at the filter. But it is trying to start and actually rolled over a few time but would not stay running. I am going to test the injector pulse and fuel flow, oh yeah the yellow/black wire is getting power with the key on.
