2002 Odyssey Flashing "D"
My 2002 EXL drive indicator started to flash. I had it scanned with an OBD II scanner and the code was P1740 indicating a 4th gear pressure switch. I looked on the net for some info and came across this thread https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-minivans-crossovers-trucks-80/04-odyssey-flashing-drive-light-2497831/ . The fix seems simple enough so I called the dealer for the part. The part they quoted to me was 28600-P7Z-003 assuring me its for the 4th gear switch and not 3rd (since I asked), but everywhere I looked, that part is for a 3rd gear switch and the 4th gear switch part is 28600-P7W-003. Can anyone confirm the actual part number for the 4th gear switch? Thanks.
BTW, its for a 2002 EXL with over 218,000 miles on the original transmission.

I hate to give you bad news but that sensor is probably fine and is not seeing enough psi. Most the time if we get a code like that on a trans with over 60k on we replace the trans per Honda. I hope this works for you Its just have replaced hundreds of these trannys and know most do not stand the test of time.
From looking at online part catalogs, it does look like they gave you the 3rd gear pressure switch.
I really hope you aren't replacing transmissions for a p1740. This is a dtc for a problem in the 4th gear pressure switch circuit, so either switch, wiring or pcm failure, nothing inside the transmission.

Don't want to argue just passing along what I have seen, and it does have 200k on a know problematic trans. I would put the switch in and see what happens, I'm by no means telling him to run out and buy a new trans. And Honda does have us replace these trans for lessor problems, just because of the problems they had and class actions brought against them. This is all from a warranty stand point.
