This is my comp stage 5 clutch after 2k miles...
Clutches seem to be hit or miss.I had a act do this to me after a week of normal driving and now I am on a comp clutch and love it and I am making well over 400?I also dont understand the break in period.I understand why it needs to be done but how can the companies tell whether or not you did it properly.I think they require that so they can use it to deny replacement.Just my .02
well one issue would be the un-sprung hub. It causes the pads to come apart much faster than in a sprung hub. At least from my experience. I would get a 6 puck or full face disc that is sprung and replace it. You probably don't need a new pressure plate yet. Make sure to resurface the flywheel as it's probably torn to hell.
Just save up for the twin, I fought this battle with the act maxxx extreme set up and they were lasting about 6 months if i was good to it. and that pp alone is $400+, the whole set up with flywheel was $700. You can be in a CC twin for $1200ish. I went through two act set ups and decided I had already payed for a twin disk, so i bucked up and got one. I have 25k miles on this twin disk and I make over 700whp and track it every chance I get, while street driving it every day. I am a believer in Comp Twin all the way now.

How is driving it on the street with the twin? I know for a fact I wont be buying another Comp clutch, their customer service has to be some of the shittiest in the business.
Driving on the street is fine, i actually believe it to be easier than the single disk 6 puck sprung that i had. CC is a very good company, I'm sorry if you have had issues with them. But just remember that a clutch disk is a wear item, like brake pads, tires, and even synchros. They are abused in so many different ways by so many different people, that you have to take caution when you hear from an angry customer that one of these failed, bc you have no clue if they installed correctly, or abused the product. Most of the time the company will have you send it back in for them to examine and make a decision based on what they find, which isnt too much to ask in my opinion.
cc twin. Mine works like a charm!! Only made around 550whp right now, driving only on the streets so far. My stage 5 cc with a 6 puck disc held 550whp for a pretty good while though. I'd go with a twin and be done with it as well. It's def not easier to drive than my stage 5, but worth the learning curve for sure.
I understand there are people out there that beat the hell out of parts yadda yadda yadda, however this isn't one of those cases. Also the whole "improper installation" thing drives me nuts, how do you improperly install a clutch? You line up the splines and torque to spec, not rocket science ya know lol. I will not buy another comp product after this if I end up having to buy another clutch. My money will go to another company that is willing to back their product and have much better customer service.
You dont put ANYTHING on the splines. PERIOD.
I have a CC twin... IT eats clutch disk hubs. Alot of peoples do, but its not theor produvct, theyl try to blame it on everything else other than it simply being inherant to the design.
Theres another BIG power option on the way. Its being tested on my car. DSM guys already have them. I have yet to get 2500 miles on a set of twin disks,,, The pads are always welll within spec, but the tranny side disk spline wears out
As for drivability on the street?
Its NICCCCCCEEEE!!! I like the clutch, just not the fact my car kills the disks. Its not the car, its not that theyre isnstalled incorrectly, They just wear.
