Icon2 Cali. Emissions

Whts honda-tech i just recently bought a 00 gsr plum purple teg an have a bad motor n dont know exactly whts wrong with it but there is something wrong in the bottom end because it has low compression so I think it is worn rings. But I am thinking about going b20 vtec for a while just to get around pretty much and it is an affordable way right now an then building up the gsr block if i can. But to my point how does cali. emissions go im from texas but stationed in mississippi and they are not all tht strict. But my friend told me that the b20 vtec will not pass inspection because it does not have a ckp sensor. So what else do I have to worry about when my b18c goes back in? I plan on movin there in a year r 2.

Sorry for the long *** post

B20vtec is not legal in cali. Cali is very strict, but you can always find ur ways around all the laws. If you dont wanna worry about emmissions, just rebuild the bottom end. Or you can do the conversion, and find a smog shop that wont look at your engine code. Alot of smog shops dont, but then alot do. Just depends on where ur at. Another thing I highly suggest you do is get auto security! And lots of it. Theft is REALLY bad out here. Ive heard of alot of people leavin their car for a couple minutes, and coming back to it being either gone, or someone inside it.

Rebuild the bottom end, b20vtec doesn't last unless properly built.

Your just speakin out of ur a** lol....
B20vtec is a very reliable set up. Even with a completely stock block.
Me and a couple friends together my homies b20v with a stock low mile block, arp head bolts with b16 head and ctr internals, mild port with port matching for intake and exhaust. Things has up to at least 130,000 miles since we put it together since its his commuter. AND he beats the living hell out of that motor. Six years later its still a beast.
