My first paint job: 93 Integra
Hi guys.
I'm making this thread to hopefully get some guidance and show my progress along the way. I have no prior paint experience before this. This car is not indented to be a daily driver. Its a streetable track car so I am not expecting this paint job to be pefect, I just want to to be presentable. I'm doing a color change to white, I hear is a easy color to work with and I like how it looks. After reading up on the basics and some advice from friends I think I'm ready to dive into this.
The supplies I've picked up so far for prep work:
IR dual action sander
360 grit discs - for taking the glaze off the majority of the car
180 grit discs- for taking any spots receiving filler down to bare metal
80 grit discs - for roughing up bare metal receiving filler
320 grit sanding sponge - for the hard to get to areas
Flexible sanding block with 220 and 400 grit paper - for block sanding filler
Supplies I intend to pick up for prep work:
Filler
Hardener
Filler spreaders
Primer
Painters tape/plastic
I'm open to suggestions on what kind of filler to get, I've heard Evercoat is good? Thats what I plan to get at the moment.
As far as primer is concerned I'm unsure what to get. Can I use spray can primer or should I use primer to spay out of a gun? I was hoping to just primer the spots receiving filler. With the car being painted a shade of white, does it really matter on the color of the primer used? I probably won't be able to pick up any supplies now due to it being Labor Day weekend so I have a few days to think about this.
Another question I have is now that the car is sanded down its harder to spot the dings and dents that need to be repaired. What can I do to find them easier?
With that being said, I guess I'll post up my progress so far. I spent most of the day yesterday working with the DA in the larger panels. Still have some sanding to do with the sponge.

Over the past 2 days I got a little bit done. Finally figured out how to get the molding above the front windows and windshield side trim off. I messed up the top molding on the windshield, but from what I remember on getting windshields replaced on previous hondas they replace that piece every time. I also stripped the door jambs and removed the doors. Tomorrow I hope to make it to the autobody supply store to pick up filler, hardener, spreaders, tack rags, primer, and whatever else they recommend I get for the prep work.
And here are the usual pics:
