Ninja 600 Golf-Kart build thread
Well here is a side project i have been working on for about 6 months...
alright thats enough teazing i guess... time to let the cat out of the bag so i can get some input and ideas and maybe some extra hands to any of yall who wanna wrench on it wit me.
so here's my pile of parts to work from....

SO first thing up is to get the kart to a rolling chasis. I decided to start with the front end.
the guy had mounted the four wheeler to the front end but up under neath.

it was also kinda sketchy tacked on there so i chopped it all off.

then chopped it in half and welded each side onto the outside of the main chasis of the kart so now the suspension is tucked in more and extended the front wheels out a way so it should make the kart a lot more stable.

shows how far out the front wheels stick... things gonna be messy if i get into any mud at all.

next up is gonna be gettin rid of this one (supposedly can sell it for 5-800 bucks)

for this bad boy... gonna take some fab to get it to fix but should make a lot better set up and hold a whole lot more power. prolly go to a monoshock rear set up too.

then this will be the next project.... wiring...
BLAHHHHHH

so thats it for now but stay tuned because i plan to have this bad boy up and running within a month.

so got some more done.... pictures dont really show it but a lot of key stuff got done. Thanks to bryan (snax) for coming by tonight and helping me sort through a pile of ideas on how to do the rear end. I think its on the right track now.
gonna solid mount the motor to the chasis now instead of the swing arm, here it is in roughly the spot its gonna go.

built a rear swing arm so i can mount the fourwheeler rear end.

heres kind of an idea of what it should look like.

got some more work done tonight with some more help from senior snax hahaha.
boxed in the rear diff on the top and bottom which should make its significantly stronger, still might add some more just for fun

used a massive 3/4 inch bolt for the swing arm mount and drilled and pin the bolt.

Not to shabby for a 200 dollar tig welder

latheing out the bushing for the swing arm outta some super high density plastic

so left a lip on it to so it has a nice wear surface to.

got a ton more done, and done let it fool you. this is a true garage built. HAHAH. using the power from my dryer plug to fuel my 200 dollar tig welder

added some more gussets and supports for the rear swing arm.

got the rear strut mounted

added some reinforment gussets

got the motor mounted.

then added some gussets again.

look at this guy working hard

highly modified steering arm. looks sketchy but its hella strong.

and lastly one fully costum hand made exhaust

this was the popular consensis on how to run the exhaust.

how she sits right now.

NOW i gotta finish the crappy parts.
-shift linkage
-throttle cable
-brake lines
and lastly all the electronics and wiring.

small update...
got the throttle cable sorted out. it looks kinda ghetto but it works great.

essentially i used two cables salvaged form teh motorcycle and fourwheeler and just pliced em together. MOSTLY because the shops want about 75 bucks per custom made cable.

then me and bryan mess'd with wiring for a while and still cant get spark. motor cranks over fine and all the electronics come on but cant get any spart at the plugs. got power at the coils, no spark at the plugs.
got a bit more done.
got a brake master compliments of mr bryan snax himself
only thing was it needed a resevoir cup.
so... why not build one myself.

test fit

snap an 79 cent ace hardware oring on

and done.

freekin wiring sucks. but i tore my harness apart and started diggin through it.

removed all this

gettin better

mounted my key and kill/start switch

got the radiator mounted and lines run

oil cooler mounted

got the gauges mounted

cleaned the carbs out and inspected everything

this set looks brand new now.

thats bout it for now. the wirings done just gotta dress it all and make it look good.
then
-shift linkage
-new chain
-bleed the brakes
that shoudl be it.
little more to show.
got my shifter sorted out. Gonna be a southpaw suicide shift

also got my chain, made my tensioner and got my stuff for the clutch cable. will update that tommorrow.
so didn't know what to do for fuel.... SOOOOO. costum fuel cell it is.
parts to start with

mill out some holes for the petcock and gascap

tackin it together

figured for fun i would put some baffles in it to reduce sloshing.... THEN ONLY FOR FUN... thought i would give it some personalization. hahahahahahah

how it sits on the kart.

petcock just runs down through the body

little update. started messing with paint. i think im doing all blacked out for now then come back later and add some color.

open to any input on color choices and what not.
i kinda wanna recover the seats in something crazy.

Ummm no cage? Haha F that. I had this idea years ago and never went through with it. Looks fun, only thing I'm not sure about is your rear swing arm... and a cage.... Keep it up
So the front suspension was a bit to soft and caused it to have a lot of body roll. To fix it i made spacers to stiffin it up

made it wayyy better. sits more level. stiffer. much happier.

Next up was re-enforcing the shifter. it had a lot of slop.

its way better now. super smooth and stable.
then since its deathkart i machined a nice spike to top the shifter.

added some headlights for night riding

then started on the cage...

then added a crossbar for racing harness

plus some support struts

and lastly... a bit of paint.

haha. oh its drivable. i've already put about 30 min of driving on it and it does fine.
obviously any vehicle as this is gonna have a lot of quirks to work through but so far so good.
biggest thing left is getting my tensioner set up on the chain. anything over about 60% throttle and you start to get chain lash.

harbor freight man. it served me very well for a while but its not switchable and i wanted to do lots of stuff with aluminum so i had to upgrade.

this is the one that we use at my work and its much better machine for only like 180 bucks more.

welp finally finished up my punch list for now. gotta more to do but for now im gonna leave it alone and get back to working on my race-car for a couple events we got coming up.
recovered my seats since they were the stock nasty white leather. also added some bolsters in the middle and edges to help keep me from sliding around when driving crazy

Heres some after pics all painted. I drove it out to a local car meet to show it off

my little cutout for the radiator to help keep er cool

couple under the hood shots...

made some custome 5 point harness mounts

then also added a full cage

added some padding around where my head rides

then messed with the new trend pastidip. did my wheels with it

turned out good (the wheels are dirty right here cause i had already gone off roading)

added my tail lights

some bright little suckers

took it for a little street ride to the gas station.

next thing up to fix is its running a bit hot. the little homemade temporary overflow was boiling like crazy when i got back.
