That thread is for the older 30-1040 EMS not sure that it would work with the newer 30-6040.
What is your setup? Make model year of chassis and engine, what AEM parts did you buy? AEM product numbers please!
Have you downloaded and read any of the online installation instructions from AEM for the products that you bought?
If they are all the correct AEM products it should be plug and play. EPM goes to EMS, EMS goes to CDI Ignition control Module (Tin Fire???), ICM goes to each Pencil coil (COP).

mine is 6040. Tech support sended me a 1040 diagram and i read everywhere on internet and all say to follow 1040 for the 6040.
Epm and cops are pretty much simple parts if its help i bring it tomorrow.
epm Part Numbers: 30-3255
cops part Numbers: 30-2850 AEM CDI Short 2-Wire Pencil Coil
Twin Fire: Part Numbers: 30-2821 4 channel
I read all the manual that comes from factory of every part but tech support told me that the correct ones are the ones that are on the forum.

sorry i already posted the parts number. Ghost accord, if u look at the diagrams as the cops comes only with two + wires pink and tan. Then diagrams says that it has to be wired to the other + wires. As the pistons 1-4 2-3 goes up and down at the same time so dont really need 4 indiviuals signals from TwinFire.
The rear thing is that EMS2 has 1,2,3,4 coil signal and so the TwinFire. But when it comes out of the twin fire it only comes out 2 wires (pink, tan).
Ah i forgot i have a 97 civic hatchback, maybe could be the wiring from obd2 to obd1 i not sure. But i know that the ems funtion well cause it started on two cars before.
Okay going to try and remember all this and try not to miss any steps. Sorry if I missed something. This is for the AEM 30-6040.
1. Open the EMS 30-6040. Change the JPT1 and JPT2 jumper settings to the 1-2 position. If you do not know how to do this get someone who can.
2. Wire in the EPM. I will tell you later why not to install it yet.
Red – Power
Black – Ground
White – Cam Signal (B11)
Yellow – Crank Signal (B15).
3. Wire in your Twin Fire & Pencil Coils – Just in case #1 cylinder is the one closest to the crank pulley
Red – Battery Power (Don’t forget to fuse this)
Black – Battery Negative
White – To coil Output #1 on EMS (A21)
Green – To Coil Output #2 on EMS (B6)
Yellow – To Coil Output #3 on EMS (B3)
Violet – To Coil Output #4 on EMS (B4)
Tan – Power to Pencil Coils on cylinder #1 & #3
Pink – Power to Pencil Coils on Cylinder #2 & #4
Brown – Signal out to Pencil Coil Cylinder #1
Orange – Signal out to Pencil Coil Cylinder #2
Blue – Signal out to Pencil Coil Cylinder #3
Gray – Signal out to Pencil Coil Cylinder #4
Make sure the switches on the side of the Twin Fire #2 is off and #3 is on
4. Okay now go back and check all your wiring to make sure it is correct. That is the actual installation for all parts. Now we can jump into the EMS settings.
5. Once again if you are not experienced in this please find someone who is.
6. Open AEMTuner(Make sure you are connected to the EMS). Lets start off with the EPM settings.
a. Click on Wizards on the top bar.
b. Click on Setup Wizards and a box will pop up.
c. Click on Cam/Crank Position Sensors.
d. Click on the AEM EPM (Make sure it is highlighted) Click the apply button on the bottom. Make sure it says matched next to the EPM.
e. From the wizards menu click on the Coil Dwell Wizard
f. Click on All CDI Systems 3ms charge time (except ford blah blah blah). Click the apply button on the bottom. Make sure it says matched next to the EPM. It will actually say matched next to a whole bunch of things.
g. Click the close button on the wizard screen.
h. Click on the tab at the top for Coils/Inj.
i. It will pop up three screens. The one you are concerned with is the Coils screen. Click the following Off boxes which will activate them and turn them on. Also click the Knock Sensor #1 On as well.
Coil #2
Coil #3
Coil #4
j. So now Coils #1-4 should all be On as well as the knock. Make sure the Coil Position is still on Leading for all these as well.
k. Set the Coil Phasing and check the Injector Phasing(screen directly on top of the coils)
Coil #1 – 0
Coil #2 – 18
Coil #3 – 6
Coil #4 – 12
Injector #1 – 12
Injector #2 – 6
Injector #3 – 18
Injector #4 – 0
l. Right click on the open area of the screen. Click on Add Option Display. A pop up box will appear. Click on Tree at the top. Double Click on Ignition. Double Click on Advanced Ignition. Double Click on Ignition Phasing & Firing Order. Double Click Options – Ignition Phasing. Click OK
m. Click Injectors #1-4 to the off position. Under the “Active” setting.
n. Close AEMTuner and turn off the vehicle.
7. Now lets install the EPM in the vehicle. Set the engine to TDC. Remove the stock distributor from the vehicle. The slot on the Camshaft for the distributor can only be aligned one way take note of which side the key is offset.
8. Plug the EPM into the harness.
9. Power the car back up and connect to AEMTuner. If the Coils/Inj screen is still open go to the channels Display. Add Channel “Cam Count”. Hold the EPM in the position it will be installed in the vehicle. Turn the shaft until “Cam Count” equals “1” if you pass one go to the next number. Take note of which way the shaft is facing on the EPM. Install the Key way from the distributor in the same position to match the cam.
10. With injectors still off. Click on the Wizards tab on the top of the screen. Click on Ignition Timing Sync Wizard. Pop up box will appear. Lock ignition timing to 10 degrees or whatever you would like. Set the ignition timing in the vehicle.
11. Go back to the Coils/Inj tab and turn the injectors back on. This should have everything setup.
1. Open the EMS 30-6040. Change the JPT1 and JPT2 jumper settings to the 1-2 position. If you do not know how to do this get someone who can.

Hello guys, got the exact same problem here, well...not exactly the same but I'll try to explain as clear as I can (I'm French *_*)
First it's on a B18C6 DC2 Type R EUDM
We wanted to fit an AEM CDI Twinfire with the stock dizzy and running a S300
We did that but then @7000rpm we had a weird cutting issue, a bit like a ignition cut/fuel cut, quite aggressive and it wouldn't rev passed 7k on full throttle, nothing wrong was showing on the S300 and was able to rev slightly pass 7000rpm on part throttle but was still cutting like it was retarding the ignition timing
Then we decided to go for a full COP setup as we were pretty sure the dizzy was faulty
We swap for an AEM EMS2 6040 with an harness conversion (that we know works), EPM, AEM COP and same AEM CDI
I followed step by step the instructions from AEM, whats weird is the ignition sync
I've got as a coil phasing in order 1 2 3 4 -> 22 16 4 10 and ignition sync of 0.336 teeth ! (Timing belt is on)
The car like that idles fine but if you rev it at around 5% throttle it will miss (feel retarted, like antilag) @ around 4.5k, if you try to go through it harder it will go but it will still cut @7000rpm
I double check the base timing and by locking the timing it looks like it's retarding it when it's getting more rev, I played with the Pickup Delay comp but it didn't do anything
I'm getting the main power for the CDI from the battery and the ignition power from the ignition switch on the stock dizzy plug
Ground for the EPM is the battery itself
If you guys have any idea of what's going on that would be great, this is giving me bloody headache !
Thanks for reading, if something isn't clear just ask and I'll try to explain better
