Default 89 CR-X Si

does anyone know what this is? it is on the back of an 89 Si gauge cluster I have and has a blue plug like the cruise control box and shift light box, it has no light bulb but has two wires tapping into the gauges

is there any possibility this box is what compensated for the 14inch rims the Si came with, meaning it tapped into the odometer (you can see a wire below the speedometer cable inlet) to give accurate speed and odometer readings?

its for the cruise control.
brown wires in the harness definately go to the box in the bay.
im pretty sure at least.

CR-X didnt have cruise control unless aftermarket or dealer installed. my sedan has cruise and this def isnt a cruise box. cruise box has 4 wires and a lightbulb not 3 wires and two wires tapping into the gauges

I could be wrong, but I am pretty positive it's for the dimmer for the cluster lights...

The speedometer is cable driven - calibration is done inside the transmission with different size gears predetermined from the factory on the mechanical sender.

I dont think it would be. 88-89 the relay for the dimmer was actually built into the dimmer switch then in 90-91 when they made the switches smaller they made the dimmer relay a box that was wired into the dash harness but located on the side of the steering column
