Can you help me trouble shoot??
Hello everyone. I have been reading this forum for a while now and there is alot of great stuff. I have been given a 1992 Honda Accord DX that the previous owner gave up on, because he can't get it started. So upon towing the car home. I've installed a new battery and a new Main relay. Thinking that would fix the problem. Still doesn't start. If anyone can help me with this car, I know the Honda guru's of this forum will help point me in the right direction.
So like I said I put and new Main relay and battery in it. The four way flashers work and the horn. I've checked all the fuses such as the 10,20,30 etc. You know the ones you can look at and see the break in the middle. Next I am going to try the siloniod to the starter with a screw driver, to see if it will at least turn over. The car is not doing anything when I turn the key.
No dome light, idiot lights, head lights, turn signals nothing.
Only thing working is horn and 4ways. Please read and reply. Thanks in advance.

1. See if the engine turns by hand (turn the crank bolt behind the driver's side wheel with a 28mm socket).
2. If the engine turns, it is either not getting air, spark, or fuel (or your starter isn't working). If your engine does not turn by hand, you have more serious problems to worry about.
3. Pull a spark plug, ground the plug, and see if it fires while the engine is turned.
Are you even hearing the starter try to start the car or is there no noise when you turn the key? If the starter isn't even turning the engine, then the starter is either dead or is disconnected. Have you checked the ignition relay? These die quite often.
Have you checked your factory service manual?
I would start over from square one since it does not seem like you have made much progress. Check all of the stuff that I mentioned in my post and get back to us.

No, I'm referring to the 'ignition switch', specifically the electrical portion that dictates what is powered when the key is turned to accessory to run to start.

Sorry, I work from the end back, you are going from the source out....pull part of the steering column apart and test the switch, test the inhibitor, then test the wire at the starter to find out you have a bad starter????
