Default 81 cb900c finally right

ok so here's the story i picked up my cb900c ten speed last year for $950 locally ...got the bike in rough shape, carbs leaked ,dead battery, polish work in horrible shape so spent a couple weeks cleaning her up put an accelerator pump in new float bowl gaskets and a general clean out of the carbs, new spark plugs and a new battery ...got it running but it was clicking horribly, and it wouldn't rev past 5500rpm....i limped it along for a couple of months until winter then tore the carbs down and completely rebuilt them with a randakk kit... did a bunch of polish work to the engine and paint then put her back together....still the same problem...so i threw on a new set of coils and built a new wireset and now this thing is perfect revs clear to 10000rpm and pulls hard ,and goes through the gears like its nothing....just figured id throw this up in case anyone had a similar problem....i know the older vacuum carbs have numerous issues but this was the first one i had encountered that wasn't carb related....... so im now completely in love with my old honda again!

I had the same thing with one I just test drove, stuck @ 6000rpms.

So your saying it just needed new coils and wires?

Did you just need to replace the ignition coils themselves? Or the whole assembly? Just trying to gauge a rough price that it was to replace the coils & wires... $50? $100 $200? etc...

i got the coils for like 60 bucks at rice paddy ...then bought new resistor caps and bulk plug wire and built a set for it ....the dyna coils that the PO had put on were just not grounded properly thats why they were cutting out on me
