I run into this bike. Interesting enough in 1979 honda had to make a statement with v6 superbike running 4 cams 24 valves.

the cams used some short of coupler to act like a dual overhead cam

i was about to call BS on the quad cam statement. I had no idea they used 4 cams and some couplers.... i wonder why they did that.

they probably didnt want the cam to deflect too much or there was some other kind of a design limitation.

i guess it was a manufacturing limitation.

The camshafts are in the normal places. The two exhaust cams, like the two inlets, are joined together by an Oldham coupling. The longer the camshaft the more difficult it is to keep it true during the grinding and heat-treating procedures. The CBX's cams, were they onepiece, would be very long-thus the Oldhams.

CBX's are straight pimp. I thought about buying one but I would have to shoot myself if I dropped it, or wrecked it. The same thought applies to a first gen Goldwing.

the admin of the cbx forum was able just by the pics to let me know that this 79 has a 81 engine so I guess it is not 100% original
