About to purchase my First tig machine
I'm about to pick up my first Tig machine actually my first welder its a Miller diversion 165. I'm about to pick that up along with all the other stuff i need, was wondering how many of you / how important is a welding jacket ? I know its probually a good idea but I see a lot of people on here not wearing them lol just wondering if i should get one or not.
I tend to burn myself whenever I don't wear mine, it's always a good idea to wear the proper gear. Atleast get some sleeves, Tig welding puts out alot of harmful UV rays.
pick up a 200dx its a ton better and has lots more features.
Honestly as the gloves are concerned buy some of these G-tek gloves and buy a couple pair, these seem to work really well for me just as long as you dont touch really REALLY hot steel and melt though the finger tips.... that will get your attention really quick!
They also have tig gloves that are made of leather these tillman gloves, I have two sets although since I have touched so much hot metal with them they get really shitty looking really fast.
However if you dont want gloves depending on the amperage you tig at for any extended period of time you will start to get sun burns, I ended up getting one on my knee cap after welding about 2 hours or so with much much MUCH less then a 25% duty cycle, this was at around 90 amps of current.. you basicly want the thinnest gloves with the most protection so you arent fumbling around with the tig rod or getting hung up on stuff.
