b16a3 in 90 crx si, WTF
i have a 90 crx si. the motor i just pulled out of it was a b16a. i picked up a complete a3 swap and figured it would be plug and play but now im starting to run into probs. the tranny mount is different so i may just reuse my a1 tranny. also i noticed that the wiring may be a little different. my old motor was 0bd0 but i was running it 0bd1 on a p28. the a3 i picked up still has its harness completly plugged in so if possible i would like to use that one. has anyone else done this swap that can give me a heads up on other things i may need to change? like axels or any rewireing
this is what im running.
b16a3
aebs intake manifold
CM lightweight flywheel
dc header
2.5 in exhaust
chipped p28
short ram intake

Unless you want MAJOR headaches ditch the OBD-1 B16A3 harness. If need be swap everything you can over to what they OBD-0 engine had on it. If not the. Be prepared to rewire for the injectors, the radiator fan switch, MAP sensor, and the likes. We have no clue what they really did for your original swap so it is hard to say exactly what you will or won't have to do.
Also if you want to run the hydraulic transmission not only will you need the mount but a cable to hydro conversion for the clutch arm. (I would just reuse the cable transmission, clutch and all.)

It can be a weekend swap... All you have to do is what I said... essentially just use the B16A3 long block and put everything from the B16A on it... then drop it in. Actually if you are good with a wrench it should literally be about a 4-8 hour swap start to finish depending on what lifting tools you have available.
I will never understand why people try swap in the harness from a different car into theirs and hope it works.
OP. reuse your stock (what the car originally had) harness and reuse your old transmission.

smdh o/p your crx isn't like eg's and ek's where you can p n p from one car to the next. honestly you're making it harder on your self by trying to use the a3 harness. simply un plug the engine harness from your old b16 and plug it onto the new engine and then you're done.
