Default blown 91ef

Hey everyone, new guy here and first post. been reading for awhile. Im a new guy when it comes to hondas. onto the car. 91 hatch base model. d15b1w/dpfi and a four speed. i bought it for 800.. heres the deal, 2 weeks ago one of my injectors o-ring broke and dropped about a half a tank of gas in the engine. fixed that problem changed the oil and 2 days later it threw a rod through both side if the block. so the question is is what would be a good motor to swap in easily for a honda noob like my self. im kinda lost when it comes to honda. thanks for any help u can offer me. if theres any utah hondas here give a shout out

Anything d series will drop straight in.. You could try to pick up a complete d16a6 swap and convert to mpfi if you want a little mo powa
But yeah any d series motor will drop in..

Dont waste your money on another d-series. Craigslist has b-series swaps all day long, complete and ready to go into your ef. Convert to mpfi, get a ls swap or b16 for around $1000. Why spend $400 to get another d-series in there?

Easiest and cheapest is going with a non vtec ZC sohc from wherever. Hmotorsonline is a good place. There are some other places where people get horror stories from/about. I haven't read or heard anything about hmotors.

If you want an engine where you don't have to wire or ANYTHING, then just go get another d15b1. The zc though only requires adding 4 additional wires. (Misc's parts as well too)

Are you being serious? Yes junk blocks can be picked up for $50. Are you one of the typical ef owners that always have to buy junk stuff and junk motors? If you want a good d-series that isn't the lame *** d15 w/ 4 speed than expect to pay around $400 motor and trans. Not that hard to understand.

the thing I have for you is that if you want something easy to do and if you are not that familiar with everything then getting into a b-series swap maybe not the way to go so just keep that in mind make sure you do your research on everything

If I were you I would just get a JDM d15b2 it's a straight drop in and is slightly better than your d15b1. You could switch to a 5 speed while your at it.

That doesn't make any sense? There is not a one jdm motor w/ a serial number that ends w/ a number. They all end w/ letters.

Take out engine and tranny, replace old engine with ZC, put engine and tranny back in car, swap out ECUs, convert to MPFI, and DONE!

Yes, you need the ECU.
Engine harness would be nice if you can get it as well.
You won't use the entire harness when you do your DPFI-to-MPFI conversion, but you will need the injectorplugs, distributor plugs, and injector resistor box (assuming they are using injector that use the resistor box).

so i got two motors in my garage to choose from. i got a short block d15b7 and a almost complete d15b2. leaning more towards the b7. i have the whole mpfi set up minus wires. will my stock computer work for this. also will my d15b1 distributer work? i know i have to do the wire swap. the motor came out of a 95 civic. so do i get the wire harness out of a 95 with mpfi?

no the ecu (computer) will not work if you go MPFI
also the dizzy will not work either if you go MPFI

you will need a 88-91 civic si MPFI dizzy
and a PM6 ecu

and you WILL NOT be able to use the 95 civic harness

you WILL have to convert your stock harness to MPFI\\

as far as motors go id go with the healthier one
