LMA mod problems obd0 b16a
i put prelude lma's in my b16a with a .042 inch washer under them and my engine still taps. it sounds worse now then it did before i did this mod. anyone else experience this with their engines?
Where did you purchase the lma's?
Sounds almost as if you dont have h22 lma's and you shimmed b16/gsr/itr lma's and now the clearances are too tall.
Heard of other problems w/ people trying to shim h22 lma's into their b16 head using the washer. People I heard of who took the old ones & new ones to a machine shop so they can make sure the height is exact never had an issue.
Look into it...its just a thought

iv done my time. i have the lude LMA's part no. ending in 003.
the lmas did not come with a washer on the bottom of the spring.
i used 8 washers all exactly the same size. .042
adjusted valves. still taps like crazy

FIXED
nevaeva,
i wouldnt say that i NEEDED them but for preventative maintenance i figured id replace them. and i also like a quite car.
i adjusted my valves a few times before and i could still hear a significant amount of taping. after i took the old ones out there were a couple that the 'piston' would stick down on.

by the end of replacing them i just wanted to get it over with. also there was a hurricane about to hit the east coast and i just wanted to get home. i just flew threw the adjustment but was pretty confident that it was right.
it definitely was not tho.
intake is exactly .006
exhaust is .007
