93 del sol - obd2 ls swap gone bad
Hello Honda-Tech, finally completed my swap, and im running into issues.
My swap consists of a b18b1 block and transmission. The motor is obd2, i have all obd2 accessories, with an obd1 ls ecu. The car is a 93 del sol si.
So after i finished the swap, the motor started right up and sounded great. I had to let the car sit because i was waiting on a set of headers to come in the mail, (car is on temp tags, and the loud exhaust would have attraction too much piggy attention) and a shifter bushing. After the both arrived and tried starting my car up a lot of bad things happened.
Despite my bushings being installed, the car' shifter only seems to go into 2 - 4 gear, the gears seem very unstable. I can put the car into "first gear" or wherever first gear normally be, and not only would it be second gear but i could then also move the shifter all the way to the opposite side and remained in that same gear.
Next the car would not start. Upon letting it sit for a minute or so, it would recharged enough power to enable some lighting in the interior and the headlights, but when sometime when clicking the key over the second time (before trying to start it) all the power would die.
But eventually after wiggling the battery cable the car would start. The car then had a very lower and bouncing idle around 200-300 rpms. And upon take off the car (like stated earlier) would be in second gear, despite my positioning the shifter into the first gear spot. I would have to keep the car's rpms near 3k for the car not to stall and then once going, this gear would winnd out to arounf 50 before breaking 3200 rpms.
The car continuies to do this upon trying to start and somtimes sparks when trying to start from the wiring harness in the area of the back of the tranny.
So im thinking that the harness is bad, or maybe there is some obd1 accessory i need to stop these electrical issues, and as for the transmission issue, im out of ideas.
So thanks for looking, and help would be appreciated! Need this vehicle for work, catching rides is getting very expensive!
Thanks again,
Jack

DAMN!!! ok, first check and make sure your shift linkage is correctly installed along w/ shifter bushings etc.. What shift linkage are you using? Even if the transmission is bad I've never encountered this problem.
First before anything, what engine harness are you using?
Check timing/ignition timing
Check your ground/wiring---alt--batt--etc... EVERYTHING
Check firing order
Check ecu and make sure it's not burnt

Make sure you bleed the coolant, it wont idle right until you do (although generally it'll idle high, not low) Also, what linkage did you use? It has to come from a '94 - '97 Del Sol VTEC, no other linkage will work.
yeah i know right lol?!
But yes i am using a del sol VTEC shift linkage, special ordered from local tuning shop. cost $200 :/ but when installed there were no bushing included, so i thought it was the problem, but it was not.
And I am using a 98 ls integra wiring harness, everything came directly out of the same car.
Im almost positive the grounds are correct b/c upon first starting attempt i left off the thermostat ground, and had no power to fuel pump or dizzy. But after that it started up good.
And all new fluids were used upon installing motor. & Dont think its the firing order b/c the car's electrical systems die when clicking over the second time, before trying to crank the motor. It starts right up when the electricity isnt being a shitheadd..????
Located in md, and car was recently exposed to heavy rain, could water have damaged anything?

Ya check dizzy for sure and your using an obd2 dizzy or obd1? You said your using the obd1 ecu right? I'm currently stumped on the shift linkage and would bring it back or ask them to re-order or re-check it for the 100th time lol. I will keep looking.
okay so my shifting problem is fixed, my bitch pin was cracked somehow..
And how would it be the dizzy? i just drove the car a few minutes ago, it runs. But when i try starting it it randomly looses complete power upon second click of key.
Yes everythings obd2 except ecu

Check dizzy just in case of cracks in cap/rotor etc, but i doubt it. So it will lack power when going to start it and once running it's ok? For some reason I still think it's a bad ground lol I know you've probably checked this a bunch but honsetly never hurts to check over again. Also check all connections as some may be dirty/corroded(pull connections apart make sure they're clean etc and re-connect) Also have you check the connection to the ecu yet or opened it up and make sure it's not burnt.
I know this sounds dumb but make sure plugs/wires are good and double check the firing order.

A buddy had the same problem with the car loosing power and idling wrong and then normal
It turned out to be the dizzy. Inside there's a small block it's called a madjual something like that it has 3 or so wires to it he replaced that and it was good as new u can take them off a dizzy at the junk yard or get it rebuilt
Might be that
