Default b18c with pct pistons

well lads as im waiting on my other engine im thinking off building a cheap enough b18c .

what i have is a b18c bottom end that needs a freshen up so thinking off just getting a new oil pump/water pump and a set of acl race bearings and using pct pistons which i already have ?

thing is its a b16a head which i have to use with a set of skunk pro 1s and will be tuned on my ecu which i have also (motec m84).

what ye think about this as id be only making use of what i have? and what about compression will this bring me around the 12 mark and what figures should i see ?

CTR pistons in a Gs-R block = Fail. Poor flame travel, hard to tune (little room for error), etc. Choose something along the lines of a P30 piston or P73-00.

i might go with a slight thicker cometic gasket but all in all i think it is possible to make this a good little engine for the money .

i no there is alot of none believers ( might be one myself once i have it done) but this is something im goin it try and see what i end up with ?

has to be better than left in the corner of the shed anyway

I like flatter domes at taller skirts, thats me though. I run 82mm RS machine PR3 slugs and love them. JDM ITR or P30's IMO would provide the highest compression while compromising to tuning ability and clearance. Plus they are lighter.

Your build though so good luck.

Shave down the domes a bit and you'll have better luck in regards to margin of error when it comes to tuning. I'm interested to see what you end up with. Good luck

CTR pistons in a Gs-r block=power. I fixed that for you. There is nothin wrong with CTR pistons. I dont wanna hear about the "poor flame travel" its a oem piston. oem=stout. And as far has hard to tune goes you can say that about any high compression piston. Either have race gas or have your timing on point. Ive never heard the tuner say " man this wisceo pistons are so easy to tune".

im not trying to start a ctr piston battle. But they make power and have no problems as long as you check all clearances and have a good tune. Just like ANY other high comp piston.

The ones in my car (stock GSR crank, rods + Nippon CTR pistons) were too hard to tune correctly without race gas. The yield on the pistons is somewhere in the neighborhood of 13.89:1. If you are building a 14:1 motor, you should be using forged pistons and rods with floating pins anyways.

The car made less power than it should have, and over all I was very dissapointed with the setup. I ran a much much thicker Cometic head gasket to try and compensate but that messed with the cam timing I think.

No conjecture here, just my personal experience. Good luck.

BTW I'm rebuilding.... with PR3's.

seems you have a major problem with me what did i do wrong ? decide to build a turbo teg? or the fact i have a 6 week old child that comes before getting it finished ? what is it eh ?

how am i full of **** ?

if anyone reckons i am or want pics of anything i can supply pics of whatever parts you want to see their is no problem.

I don't get what the big deal is. If he's using a B16 head, the thing should be fine with PCT pistons. It's only when you try to use the GSR head that it becomes a major problem...
