Just like any other car that you'd buy... I normally look at the brakes, oil, hoses, belts, tire wear, underneath the oil cap(look to see if any oil is caked in the underside of it), color of power steering/brake fluids, blah blah blah.... drive it around a bit, you know? same old stuff.

Headgaskets can be an issue, and so can the air conditioning system. I'd recommend looking in to the coolant system before purchasing.

While its an easy fix with energy suspension poly bushings, I'd check the front compliance bushings. If its an lx, check for exhaust manifold cracks.

I believe it is. Do me a favor and take some pictures of the under body aero panels.

Haven't chosen a specific car, just asking.

I also wondering how hard is it to work on a hybrid. I can take classes (like I'm currently doing for other auto ****) for alternative fuel/systems. But I like DIY **** and pretty unsure about how safe/fun they can be to work on.

if you check the head gasket, then check the head for any warping. get a leak down test done. and also do a carbon monoxide test. also check the shocks/struts to see if they are blown.
