ek sedan. battery light on/dim headlight/speedo doesn't work
got a problem with my 96 ek sedan, after changing new altenator and battery, the battery light on the cluster is still on, and my headlight are dim, have anyone ever experience with this problem before? cant it a fuse or a relay causing this problem?
okay will double check that first thing in the morning. what if that not the problem for the battery light to stay on? how about the headlight being dim
well the car doesnt die out, i even pull the negative off the battery car still doesnt die out. so im assuming the altenator is good still and plus i change to a new altenator
Measure voltage across the two battery posts under these conditions:
1) Engine off
2) Engine idling, with all accessories off (no load)
3) Engine idling, with high beams, rear window defogger, and max A/C on
Post voltages for each test.

Avoid this^ crude test. Disconnecting the battery while the engine is running can produce system voltage spikes that are potentially damaging to sensitive electrical circuits.
also my vss doesnt work eitehr but the rpm does. car drive find with no problem, just that battery light is on, headlight are dimm and my vss doesnt work.
Assuming that the charging system is good and checked properly,look for the wires behind the block(close to oil filter)for rubbing on the intake manifold to engine block bracket.On those models they used to be rubbing and doing the problem that you described.I'm not sure but I think the wires are yellow colors with grey plug.

My battery light comes on amd off while driving sooo
Sometimes it charges sometimes it doesnt... Lights also dim when battery light comes on...
New battery (yesterday) new alt (one month ago)

I believe my alt belt lets out a tiny squeek from time when I take off from a stop.
Im not sure if it killed my old battery or what buy it got progressively worse recently thethe other night my radio would cut out.
Then kick on... Eventually the car would.not stay on if my headlights were on I drove home from a few blocks away w. No headlights....
Then I replaced battery and thought I would be golden.
Then today the battery light is still kicking on and off

Off 12.6
On no acc 13.5 then climbed to 14.0
On w/acc but no ac button 11.8 with battery light on
12.3-12.6 with battery light off
The idle also drops with battery light on.
Fan wired ti constant..
Side markers wires to blink with blinkers if any of that helps.

Is it possible the belt is loose.
