OK, I need your honest opinion- Is this NICE or RICE? **PART II**
Well, with 69% of you saying that this look is so RICE, I think it's safe to say you didn't like it!!
Now, it's confession time- that wasn't some random car I took a picture of, it's mine. I said that to get honest answers and that I did!!
Believe it or not, it took me a lot of work to get them to look like that. I debated for a while about whether or not to get them in the first place, so when I found the carbon look ones, I thought they'd look pretty good on a black car. But when I first put them on I didn't really care for the look either, so I went to Home Depot and got some rubberized paint and carefully painted the edges of each tail light...and I left the stock center piece in. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I went and had some paint made up to color-match my car and sprayed that aftermarket center piece to match.
Yet, after all of this painting I still didn't really care for the look and that's why I asked you guys what you thought. Problem is, I know I can't rid of these things on eBay for anywhere close to what I paid and I already sold the stock ones
What I want to do now is paint both the left and right pieces all translucent red (corners and brake lights) like keebler65's tail lights (I hope you don't mind I used your pic).
Actually, I think it's all pretty funny though, becuase 6 months ago my only definition of rice was the white fluffy stuff my wife and I eat quite often. I knew there was an import scene, but I didn't know squat about it. Now I'm driving a car that I've put tons of hours into mods and it's been quite fun. Here's some more pics!

Love the headlights, I've got a set that will be put on after painting my car. However I think your car would look better if you smoked the corners or even painted them all amber. I have nothing against clears I just dont think they look quite right with black projectors. And I think it would look pretty good painted translucent red.
I say since you already bought those pieces, maybe try and paint 'em to look similar to keebler65's... If it still doesn't look very nice, then purchase some nice new '91 taillights!
Either way, your setup is clean... Maybe with the stock taillights you could add a little bit of a dark tint to them - making it blend in with your black crx.
The thing I don't like about your current tailights is the round red brake lights... But that's just my opinion.
Either way, have fun on the details!
BTW: I really like the black projectors!

Thanks for the props! How would I go about smoking the corners or tails anyway? Should I get some tinted hobby paint or something?
BTW: My neighbor has a '93 Supra TT and he has an extra set of tail lights he said he sell me. I'd do it, but I thought it would be to expensive to have the body shop make them blend in.

Instead of everyone voting for "It's your car. Do whatever you want," I'm interested in your opinions. I'm going to do whatever I want anyway...so just vote for what you think would look good! TIA

Heh.
is it snowing already
lol...guess I should of wiped off my lense
Actually, this is our first real rain of the season. Last weekend I was wearing shorts, but I think now I'll be putting them back in the closet until next May. heheheheh
Here's my opinion...
I think it might look good with the left and right pieces painted red, but I'm not sure if it would look cool with the center piece being black.
Then again, I don't know if it would look good with the center piece red, or clear, or back to stock either!
I would suggest you take it to Appearance/Cosmetic and ask for a photoshop on your car...they're usually pretty helpful in there.
Maybe the tails (left and right) would even look good if they were smoked a dark gray! It would sure be stealthy...but again, I'd have to see it in a pic.
Let us know what you find out...oh, and honestly, (hate to say it but) I think any of the above options would look better than it does now...just my opinion! But it'll look good once you figure it out...don't give up yet.

Well, since you're asking for real opinions, if money's no object, go back to stock ones, or get the Quad Conversions if you must mod 'em.
One thing that I absolutely hate is red turn signal indicators; don't know why people have this fascination with taking away the contrast from ambers - ambers are more obvious to traffic behind you.
Anyway, if you have to go with your current setup or keebler's, I'd go with doing what he/she did.
Finally, someone posted pics on the crx resource of their car that has black projectors (installing mine tomorrow - can't wait!), and he used Testors paint on his corners to darken them. Look for his thread there. I'm probably going to leave mine clear.

Personally, I dont care for clear, or white in tails..but thats me. If you wake up in the morning, walk out to your car, and get a smile on your face...keep doing what you like and stay happy

i say mod some integra altezzas in where your lights go and then add supra lights to the bumper then get a 2 foot led and put it in the window and get one of those things that makes it blink during a panic stop
Man this brings back memories, i used to have an 89 crx. Sold it in 97
Did you know CRX stood for CIVIC RX?
Anyways, the red tail lights looks nice.
I HATE altezza lights, i dont think they look right on any other car but the altezza.
Even the new maxima that sports them lights dont look right in my opinion.
But my crx had the 300zx tail light covers, then i got the 91 tailights and red them out.

Anybody know what quad conversions are?
I wish they made some tail lights that resemble the ones on the 2001 Camry or the 2003 Corolla. Those look damn good, IMO--not the shape, but the style.
Anyway, painted them red yesterday...turned out really good!

i think people at HT would have told you it was ugly even if they knew it was your car. We at H-T are honest like that. I just never knew why someone would want to change their taillights. I think stock ones look just fine.
In my first poll, 69% of you guys said it looked rice. Now, in this poll 72% of you guys say do what you want. Don't you think that's a real contradiction?
