16.5 at track
So last night at the track i ran 16.5 @ 85 mph. I am not to happy about that but, the track is at 3600 ft elevation. My friends that were there ran 14.2 with a stock VR4 3000 GT and another ran 17.2 in a stock Subaru 2.5 RS and yet another 15.3 in a stock WRX.
Traction was a problem, spinning tires a lil in first and in the 1st-2nd shift as well as 2nd - 3rd.
With all that in mind, what do you make of these times.
Dont hesitate to tell if they suck. I thouhgt they did too.
But if you have some words of encouragement that would be nice.
Oh and my friend with the VR4 says there is a conversion factor to get sea level times. What is it?

I'm not going to tell you your times suck because i've never raced my car at the track though. I would say you need to get some new tires and a suspension though. I'm shooting for a 13.0 next month. Also just practice and practice, I don't know what you budget or plans are. We can talk on aim if you have some ?'s its in my sig.
hmmm try feathering 1st a little more you shouldn't be spinning if your car runs 16.5
All calculations are at 3600 ft....
VR4- 14.2=13.72
WRX- 15.3=14.81
2.5 R.S- 17.2=16.72
You- 16.5=16.02@90 MPH
You must off had some crapy 60' times cause 90 MPH is alittle high for a 16.02. What was your 60' times?

60 foot time for me was 2.6 on the 16.5 run. On another run that was slower my 60 foot time was actually better 2.38. I dont know about the other guys but the VR4 60 foot was 2.0.
its all about practice. traction is one of the biggest issues. try featherin g otu the clutch so you dont spin so hard, when i was n/a try launching around 4000 that seemed to work well with me with no bog.
Also the altitude will affect your car and the RS more than the turbo cars. That is pretty high elevation - the Sub sounds like it's about a second slower than it should be - at a sea level track. You are probably close to the same, hwoever as the others have said, practice-practice-practice. I think you will be doing well to get a 16 flat at that elevation.

Judging by your times, I'm going to assume the elevation has something to do with it. I couldn't tell you what you should be running, it's different for every driver...but I do know that I ran a 15 flat with just an intake and removed muffler. My buddy's SH when it was stock was running high 15s, so you should be able to get your times down. Otherwise find a new track, lol
just out of curiousity.... did u run at LACR? if you did then yea... u definetely need to convert to sea level... i personally hit a 16.3 over there, which my friend said is approx 15.9 at sea level... lemme kno if u plan on going soon, i might see you there..
yeah this was at LACR.
First time ever at the track and had a bitch of a time finding it too.
Probably drove through 2 hours of traffic then an hour lost before we got to run down the strip.

yea... at LACR they have shifts... for 30 mins its the imports.. then for another 30 mins its the domestics.... and so on and so on till 10... the only reason i dont like LACR is the elevation and also that it closes so damn early.....
I dont think im gonna go to LACR again.
One reason is the elevation, also i wanna race some domestics, not watch them run and only get to race imports.
Pomona will have to go down soon.

Something sounds wrong, must have been traction mixed with the elevation or something because I ran a 16.2 with a 93 Prelude S (F22 SOHC non-vtec) which only has 135 hp and all it had was a CAI.

so even if you deduct this from your time, it's still slow for a 5th gen lude.
i ran a 15.4 overthere in a stock 95 lude VTEC.
