missing/hesitation
I have a 91 si that has a miss/hesitation when you let it hold back that almost kills the motor. i replaced the coil yesterday thinking that may be the problem and it made it alot worse. I live in the mountains so it has to hold back alot. theres no cels and im about to the point of selling or crushing my hatch if i cant fix it soon
Have you checked the timing on the motor?
Have you done a tune-up recently? Plug wires, plugs, cap, and rotor.
What do you mean by "when you let it hold back"? Do mean like having it in gear during decel around the mountains?

it has new plugs cap and rotor. i havent done the wires yet. i replaced most of the vac lines yesterday as a long stretch sense the fpr had two slits in it but still doing it.
i let it hold back in 4th trying to stay within speedlimits as well as brakes.

its only on decel and is in any gear its holding back in. it does it anytime its for a long period of time. i tried adjusting time a few mins ago and it clears up when the timing is out of wack so far it has no power to take off
Does the car idle high by chance?
It's really odd that it only misses on deceleration. I was thinking maybe it could be the Idle Air Control Valve as on decel it cuts the fuel to the injectors when the car is above 1100rpm with the throttle closed.

Here is a writeup that tells you everything to check to see if the IACV is dirty or possibly a fix for your issue.
Idling up and down could be caused by something as small as low coolant in the radiator or the FITV valve (the spring inside comes loose and allows more air into the system even after the car has warmed up, hence the surging.)
Hope this helps, shoot me a PM if you happen to have any other issues.
