I have a 97 Ex Civic with a D16y8 motor.

I have place some new piston, piston rings & rods on the block D16y8 and #1 & 4 has carbon on top (witch is working) #2 & 3 is just like brand new. Can someone help me on what might be the problem. I need to get my car back on the road. I need advise as soon as I can. Thxs

Can't do anything with the engine apart. You need to give these kinds of details up front. Did the headgasket go?

clean pistons are a sign of a blown headgasket.

unless you replaced those pistons

but i cant tell because of the way you worded your post.

My pistons are brand new cp low compression pistons. All gaskets, rings & seals are Brand new. The is NOT milkey oil and gasket look brand new. Piston has a little play when it is level with the top of the sleeve. The engine was installed but had some issues, so when I pulled off the head #1 and 4 has carbon on the piston & #2 and 3 looks brand new.

I have two things in mine? Correct me if I am wrong? Piston rings are shot or #2 & 3 injectors are not shotting out fuel. There is NO bent valves. I have double and thriple check.. Please help me out. Gotta get this car on the road.

pull the injectors out of the intake and leave them in the rail.

then put a rag around each injector and try to start the engine.

if they arent firing the rag will be dry under them.

the reason i asked about the pistons, is because your first post was confusing.

might as well check spark too. you want a BRIGHT blueish, white spark.

yellow/orange ish is bad

and what do you mean a little "play"? up and down? side to side?

you shouldnt have any play.

forget to put your rings on the new pistons?

what is your PTW clearance?
