Default Battery location

I have a pc680 that I want to mount under the dash right where the radio/srs box used to live. There is a nice flat piece there and I have a billet tiedown that will be bolted to the floor (97 civic hb). Will have have any issue with tech when I take it to the track?

is it a dry cell battery? if its not, thats a no go. and no matter what you'll want to insulate the battery terminals from any contact.

IMO thats not really where you want to put the battery anyway.

AFAIK you can mount the battery anywhere you want as long as you follow the rules for proper mounting. use 3/8" bolts, or whatever the rules call for.

i agree its not an ideal location.

I asked about moving a battery to the passenger floor and got variable response from different clubs. Race people said a box is necessary by the rules even for a dry cell. Also, a battery cutoff. HPDE said that it has to be mounted solid to withstand crash and that usually meant at least contained by a metal strap and bolted down. Check with the tech people that you run with. The where did not matter to HPDE.

I'd opt to mount it lower for ease of access.
Best place is behind the passenger area.
Im assuming your PC680 is an oddessey.
its dry cell so your good on that count.
Always look further in the future.. if its hpde you have no worries right now, but try and build your car to a CCR spec in the event you stop hpde and get into a series where the rules will count.
This will save you time and money if you have to go back and re-install things to the ccr.
