eh, it's somewhat normal, seeings how it's exposed to the weather and being under the car. try cleaning it off with some sand paper and spay some pb blaster or wd 40 to keep the moisture off it and see if it does anything.

Unbolt the whole thing at the car(2 bolts) and see how far it'll go in like that. I'm an H-series guys so this type of shifting linkage I have next delt with.

Under the car, where the shifter is is 2 bolts that hold the shifter up in the car, take them out and "shift" it under the car and see if it goes in or out farther than it should, and listen for any wierd noises or knocks.

That's normal, however there is supposed to be a boot over that shaft which is why it's rusty. there's also supposed to be a clip around the spring pin for the shift linkage.

thanks.. could u tell me wat the loud clicking could be when puttin it in gear ? or is that normal

Noramly it'll make a small click noise when it goes into gear. Some are louder than others... nothing to worry about till it starts popping outa gear or not wanting to go it, then you need new syncros.

Reverse will normally make a loud click when going in, sometimes first will click but generally not as loud.
